This is actually my first thread on the ecf, though I've been reading the forums for awhile now. I've only been vaping about 2 months and my "main" pv is my 900 ego with the passthrough. I also have a regular little 510 which I do like for dripping some, but tend to use the ego more. Even though it's an ego-t, i just got the tank atty and tanks a couple weeks ago. I've read many reviews about it, both positive and negative, and I can definitely see both. It's a good idea, in theory, but I can't seem to get it to "work" right. It tends to have absolutely no flavour and all I seem to be able to taste is plastic, even after "breaking in" the atty. I do actually get a good amount of vapour, but I also get no throat hit at all...more like vaping air. I've read that low-resistance attys can help with this, but am wondering whether it would be worth the price to try one, as money is a bit tight. I also read that the low-res attys tend to burn out quite fast. I've been using my ego with just cartos, clearomizers, or even dripping with just a regular 510 atty and drip tip, but would love the convenience of the tank... IF i can actually get some.. SOMEthing out of it! Any suggestions or tips would be great, especially if anyone has some ideas as to how I could make the tank atty I already have work better.

A low resistance egoT atomiser doesn't perform any better than a standard egoT in terms of heat or flavour. It's not worth buying it if you're unhappy with a normal resistance atomier.

What voltage is your passthrough?

What's your nicotine content?

Do you vape pg/vg or a mix of the two?

Try out some CE2s now that they have the ultimate edition with stronger outer casings. The coil is at the top of the unit which carries more flavour and heat and they're cheaper than tank atomisers. The biggest downside is you might need to fiddle with it to get it working optimally but honestly it's very easy to get into them and modify them a little. You'd be much happier with those than a LR egoT atty that's going to be just as bad as the one you have.

For your existing atomiser, if you're tasting plastic, you're running it too hot or not getting it to wick fast enough. Let it cool between vapes and dont let it get too hot. For the wicking there's a few things to try out:

- Suck through the mouthpiece a little harder when you vape or give it a few short, hard pulls when you taste plastic. This draws liquid onto the wick itself.

- (Do this at your own risk) Push the wick down a little inside the piercing straw. Use something blunt and gently podge it down little by little and try it out. It's easy to push it down but difficult to get it back up so be careful.

- (Do this at your own risk) You can use a sharp needle and make a small hole in the wick itself to help it wick faster but obviously if you make it too big or deep it'll flood all the time so less is more if you try this.

- Try to use thinner liquids. Higher VG content or thick PG wont wick very well with the tanks.

- Leave your egoT upright between uses. It'll allow for liquid to get onto the atomiser over time. Just don't leave it upright for too long (more than a day) or it's going to leak.

I like using the ego XL atomizer type B . The cartidges are about the same size as the XL type B tank cartridges . All you have to do to get them to work right is thinner juice either a PG based juice or an 80/20 PG/VG . 70/30 PG/VG will work but tends to not wick good when the cartridge is 1/2 empty so you have to take a few strong draw without activating the battery to get it to wick or you can just top it off .

Thanks for the suggestions! I had a feeling that the low res attys wouldn't be much better, if any, so I think I'll save the money and try a few of your tips with the atty and tank I already have. I'll give it another go and see if I can get anything to help. I'm a bit nervous about messing with the wick, but if it gets to where I'm not using it anyway, I might as well try. Seems like I'm already having to suck like crazy on the thing. As to the pg/vg ratios, I've actually tried MANY different combinations of percentages of the two, all with the same result- nuttin' but plastic and "air"... I will definitely try some of these suggestions, though.
I recently got a couple of the XXXL dual coil cartos to use on my ego, and they are amazing! I actually get a good bit of throat hit...finally. It does seem to suck up or "waste" a lot of juice, though. And since money is tight, I can't afford to keep buying new cartos and attys if I'm not able to use them for quite a while. So thanks again for the tips, I'll try them, as I hate to not get any use out of the ego tank atty.

Order a box (5 pcs) of Boge cartomizers and a 306 atomizer with a drip tip. The carto or the 306 will give you the best flavor and vapor of anything you have tried with the least hassle.

The CE2 clearomizer is good, but my experience was that it was great on flavor and vapor, but too much "juice in the mouth".

The Ego-T tanks tend to flood at the end. I tried the cone and the mega versions for quite a while.

What kind of juice are you using? Cartos do seem a little wasteful, almost like a paint roller saturated with juice. Unfortunately they seem to give the best vape for me. I recently got some of these.

GV VISION DEUX Clearomizer : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

I haven't tried them out 100% but I'm hoping they'll do the trick.

The echo-e cartomizers can be used and refilled many times and they're made to be cleaned. It won't help as far as using more juice but you may use less cartos depending on your juice.

I use clear PG juice and my cartos last quite awhile.

I actually haven't lost a carto yet, but I switch flavours (and therefore cartos) around quite often. I also drip quite a bit with just a regular 510 atty and drip tip when I'm just sitting at home. I'm one of those people who can't really vape the same flavour all day long. For instance, I drink a lot of coffee in the morning, and use coffee-ish flavours like cappucino, hazelnut, etc. (or some mixed together). Then I like to drink a glass of grapfruit juice, so I switch to more citrus-y flavours. After that I usually just drink water the rest of the day, so I switch around with mostly fruity or berry type flavours. I'm not really into the tobacco flavours. I've only been vaping about 2 months, but changing flavours fairly often throughout the day seems to be the only way I've been able to continue vaping without the cig cravings.

To go slightly back on topic... since I use quite a few different juices, many of them DIY, I also have quite a variety of ratios of pg/vg with the different juices. And I've tried LOTS of various juices and pg/vg ratios (and nic content) in my ego tanks, and yet I always seem to get the same result...like vaping air. I get vapour production, but it's like vaping un-flavoured, non-nicotine juice with no throat hit, and only a slight "plastic-y" taste, since the tanks are plastic. I would love to buy more of the dual-coil XXXL cartos to use with more of my flavours, but like I said, they really tend to suck up the juice, and money is really tight right now. I've tried a few of the suggestions I've received, but haven't messed with the wick yet. I just hope I can get some use out of the atty, since money is so tight. I wish there was a way to actually "drip" on it, but (obviously) it's way too big for drip tips!
Anyway, thanks for the help... This forum (and by that, I mean the community of people) is great! Sorry I tend to be so long-winded in my posts, though... ;-) Thanks so much and any more suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated!! :)

Hi Sharon,

Sounds like you and I vape in the same way with the exception that I find my ego-t "b" tank gives me more flavour then dripping on a 510 atty. I also use the xl 510 clearomizers from TW (Totally Wicked) which tend to give a much warmer vapour and good flavour but I do occasionaly get some juice in my mouth which I find a annoying. Also the clearomizers are kinda flimsy and I've had 2 break on me already. In the meantime I've only had one 510 atty die on me but don't throw it away! I've recently taken it apart to retrieve the metal mesh they use as I've just found out it makes for an awesome wick replacement part for the ego-t atomizer (together with the wicks salvaged from the broken xl clearomizers). I find there's nothing quite like a freshly cleaned ego-t atomizer with a fresh tank of juice. From what it sounds like you're not getting enough juice going through the wick on your tank system. It could be the wick is too high and gently pushing it down a little has helped me in the past.

I've also used a LR atty tank and really haven't noticed much difference between that and a regular atty. Again I wouldn't throw it out as I'm sure salvaging the metal mesh from one of those monsters should provide plenty of material for making your own wicks. For me the worst aspect of the ego-t atomizers are their wicks which are flimsy but with the metal mesh salvaged from dead attys and the wicks from dead clearomizers, you've got enough to make about 10-12 wicks which should be great. Probably the major reason I'd order xl clearomizers again. :)

Sharon, sorry I'm late to the party, but I have to completely disagree with leftfeild regarding LR atties. I get such a noticeable difference in taste and vapor, that my standard atties are only used for spare wicks now. You should definitely buy one and decide for yourself, but everyone I have recommended LR to was much happier. It just makes sense that it would work better due to Ohm's Law. Less resistance at the same voltage = higher wattage. SR atties produce 4.6 watts at 2.5 ohms while LR atties produce 5.78 watts at 2 ohms using the same 3.4 volt battery.

LR atties are the same price as standard at most vendors. I get mine for $10.99 at vaperite.com or myvaporstore.com. Certainly worth giving it a try.
