Help with Flux Phoenix Bottom Coil 2.4-2.6 bad taste

Hi folks, I'm looking for some advice here.

I am using Flux Phoenix 510 bottom coil 2.4-2.6 units with either a genuine Joye Ego-T or a Vamo/18650 style (I can link to the unit but I left this out because I didn't want to be rude to GotVapes and linking a competitor). For the Vamo type, I seem to get the best results on 3.2 - 3.5 volts.

The problem is, on all 5 of my Pheonix, they will vape great for a while but it seems like every 10 or 15 minutes I will get this incredibly nasty hit and it won't go a way for a few minutes. Not heavy vaping (batteries aren't hot or anything like that) and it happens with any juice I use. I don't DIY, it's all commercial juice not really sure of the PG/VG ratio they use. I can always ask if that's needed info.

This thing tastes absolutely amazing when it's working for me but this problem is driving me mad, it happens to them no matter if I just unwrapped it and filled it or if it's been in use for a week already.

Any ideas or suggestions to what I can do or what the problem may be?

Pinch the tube a bit or suck on it some without power applied. Too get some (3 or 4) air bubbles to float up. With the Bottom Coil wile this is an awesome vape air flow/lock can get you from time to time. You may just need more air in the tube....

Yep, seems to work just fine. I can pretty much taste when it is starting to go down hill and doing this seems to bring it right back where it needs to be.

Adrena covered what to do ( and why ) just fine.... just to explain it more...

What is happening is that you are starting to get a dry hit... as mentioned it can be caused by a vacuum issue and squeezing the tube usually clears it up. In some cases, you can take it off of the PV and blow gently into the connector side ( holding it upside down basically )... don't blow too much or you may pressurize it and end up having it leak out of the bottom.

Knowing what your PG/VG ratio is important in situations like this... the thicker your e-liquid is the less it wants to wick in any atty, carto, clearo or tank. On top coil devices ( the Phoenix is a bottom coil ) you typically just tip it more so the wicks are covered more in the e-liquid. In some cases where the e-liquid is pretty thick, you may need to thin it a touch with a drop or so of distilled water or PGA. Please note, too thin and you'll again end up with a slight leak... too thick and you end up with dry hits.

Mine seemed to need a break in period. It vapes awesome now, and I put a smoktech 510 airflow controller to get the draw I prefer. You can get the airflow controller at gotvapes, and they also have an ego version. The 510 will work on an ego, but it looks a bit top heavy and unstable for my taste. Although the 510 will also work with a thread cover. I have both on my MVP.

As an aside, what do you find the average life span of them to be and how do you tell when it's time to let one go and start a new one?

To each their own opinion, when you're not satisfied by the performance toss it. OR......... With an empty tube hit the power on (not wile vaping) let it "dry burn" 5 or 6 times with a cool down between heating's. Till you see no more steam. This may give you more days to vape it. For me I would say I toss them after about a week of use.
