I'm new to vaping and have had my JOYE 510 for a week. Up until yesterday, everything was going fine. Atomizers, batteries, carts were working well. I even got some sweet flue-cured from liquidxpress.

One thing I noticed is that I have to top off a lot. I've read on this site that that is common with this model.

Today I've noticed I don't get a throat hit anymore and I'm having to top off quite a bit more than before. The flavor has also dropped off a bit. I pulled out the filler and noticed that the end closest to the atomizer is white while 98% of the remaining filler is soaked with liquid. The juice just isn't getting to the atomizer, I guess. I'm using the filling that came with my kit.

If the majority of the filler is saturated but I'm not tasting/getting a throat hit, what's going on? I even keep the e-cig vertical between puffs (LED end down) hoping that the juice will flow toward the atomizer-end of the cart.

I'm going through a ton of liquid by constantly having to top off the cart to get flavor. More importantly, I am becoming frustrated and disenchanted with this device.

I tried the straw mod today and it didn't help. I've tried replacing the battery with a fully charged one. Didn't help much. Atomizers aren't the problem. I really think the filler isn't allowing the juice to travel toward the atty.

Any suggestions?

Interesting....I tried the straw mod and found that it helped a lot with that "dry end near the atty" problem. Sorry it didn't work for you.

One trick I do, and you must do this carefully or you'll flood your atty, but it works for me: every 5 or 6 draws, I gently blow a little puff of air into the mouthpiece -just enough to move some juice to the atty and away from the mouthpiece. Don't blow hard or you'll make a mess and liquid will leak out. You may hear it gurgling a little as the juice moves along the filler. Just a really gentle puff will do. This home-made technique allows me to move all available juice to the atty.

Yeah, with the 510, you do go through more juice - the price you pay for higher vapor and temperature - but I'd rather vape it than leave it gathering figurative dust at the bottom of the cartridge.

Try it and see if it helps. Good luck!

Stand it up vertical over night.
Stand it up vertical everytime you sat it down. (I do)

You'll still have to top it off regulary.......but I have heard of a mod 'spring mod' or something like that, where the back one third of the cart filler is cut off and replaced with a spring from an ink pen. Seems like I remember the cartridge holds more juice this way and takes less time from gravity to push it down through the filler to the atomizer.

With your straw mod...it might work better or worse.

My opinion again here, if I attempted this mod (like I described) I think my filler might be in there slightly tighter than normal to keep liquid from going around the filler and dripping down the sides........just a guess.

The straw mod is a good suggestion. But you can also stick an open paper clip down the side of the cart and push the filling to one side, creating a little air pocket.

The one thing I'd try though is to clean your atomizer. Before you go to bed run in under a hot tap so water pours through the opening and out the battery end. Do it for about two minutes. Blow out as much water as you can. Then set it on a paper towel overnight; standing up, battery side up. It could be a wicking problem. The water will desolve any old juice. It should be dry in the morning.

Put a few drops on the atomizer to prime it. Make sure the cart is wet, too. Put cart on atomizer and wait a full minute for the atomizer to draw up liquid.

I forgot to ask...

How often should I expect to be topping off? What's considered "normal"?

If your 510 is working properly, "topping off" shouldn't be required at all. You should be able to vape the cart until it is dry, and then do a complete refill. A complete refill will be between 10 and 20 drops depending on the thickness of the fluid and the drop size. I may get a bit more since I use the 901 cart on the 510.

At least once and sometimes twice a day I blow the juice out of the atomizer... I take the mouthpiece off, then unscrew the atomizer and blow through the end with the small hole and let 3 or 4 drops of juice run out the other end into the sink or a kleenex. That's all I need to do to get it to start vaping right again. It just gets too much juice in the atty and it plugs it up a bit.

Hunter3783 try blowing out the atty into a napkin or papertowel, it could even be toilet paper. Whatever will absorb the juice will do. I had the same problems with my 510 as well. Then I started using Limpton Pyramid Teabag as the filler and it is so much better. But still blow out the atty and then when you refill (top off) a cartridge try putting a couple of drops of juice in the atty as well. But I suggest no more than two drops. Otherwise you will flood the atty and you might as well blow it out again.
