I am in desperate need of a new device, but hours and hours of research keeps leading me no where! LOL I started with Smoking Anywhere, then njoy, then Blue, followed by GreenSmoke. None have been that great, with some being a complete waste of money and Greensmoke being the one that I'm currently using. I live in a small town, where people really think Ecigs are "weird". I've never seen anyone else using one. So I definitely want something similar in size and shape to a real cig., but think that I could probably do much better than a Greensmoke. Is that true?

I've been considering the V4L or SS, but am not sure what the differences between them are. Also, there are several models to choose from with each. I like to use cartomizers and SS doesn't seem to sell any different flavors, but then I've also read some people don't like the V4L cartomizers. I was hoping that someone could give me the pros and cons between them both. I would really like to make this purchase, but can't afford to waste more money on another ecig that doesn't work! It sounds as though the ego is great, but doesn't resemble a cig. I would sincerely appreciate any words of wisdom as I am overwhelmed! Thank you!

I'm not that familiar with SmokeStik, other than it is the e-cig of the stars (e.g., Katherine Heigl) and, therefore, has helped bring vaping to public attention ... and that it is an ECF "Forum Supplier" (as is Vapor4Life). Both companies' brands use the simple and convenient "cartomizer" concept (i.e., an integrated cartridge and atomizer). Vapor4Life's "Vapor King" brand is the KR808D-1 model (also carried by many other suppliers, some of whom participate in ECF also). I believe that the various SmokeStik brands are the E9 model (same as Green Smoke, Smoke51 DUO, Vapure, etc.). [I hope that another veteran will jump in here, if I am mistaken on this).

Of the two, I strongly recommend the Kr8 model: it is much less expensive and most ECFers regard it as being more effective. The Kr8 battery is probably the best of the skinny batts: 280 mAh and a true 3.7V. And, indeed, Vapor4Life carries a huge selection of flavors of prefilled cartos. Their "Premium" cartomizers (along with VaporNine's Turbo and CigEasy's Gold Label Deluxe) are definitely superior (e.g., vapor production) to the older style. And I believe that their "WOW" line is essentially the same cartomizer type, but better tasting, because of the superior e-liquid used.

Kr8 cartomizers can easily be refilled (or filled from scratch with your own e-liquid) using Doggsbody's Carto Cap (aka Condom) technique, demonstrated here by Doctor Vapor.

All that being said, if I were buying a first e-cig today, I'd get a fat batt (i.e., eGO-type): roughly the same length but a bit wider than the Kr8 and much higher mAh (650+). And most are designed to be used with the most popular atomizer on ECF: the 510 ... as well as with the new mega eGO cartomizers.

I say more about the Kr8 and fat batts – and where to get them – in my “'Best' Electronic Cigarette (for a first-time vaper)" article.
