Help with Straw Mod

I completed my first straw mod today - only been vape'ing for 24 hours so I am assuming I messed this up somehow. I used a prefilled cartridge that has basically died out and been refilled with ECOpure Menthol High.

I used a Q-tip, cut it down so it fit within the cartridge, about 1/8" below the edge and was sure to angle the bottom portion. I squeezed out the filler, which appears to be similar to Polyfill if not the same.

When I pull now, it feels as if I have to pull twice as hard. I am sucking the hell out of this thing and I am getting plenty of vapor (slightly more than what I got on the stock cart) but there is absolutely no throat hit and virtually no taste at all.

During the mod, I opted to squeeze out the juice that was left in the filler from prior usage. Got the filler pretty dry, installed the straw then put the filler in with tweezer. I got 33 drops in the filler before I noticed slight pooling. When I packaged it all back up and used it I got a slight gurgle.

So, I blew out the atty thinking it was flooded - very little juice came out. I repositioned the filler a bit closer to the atty, thinking I wasn't getting a good wick (but the vapor production would be reduced, correct?). I don't think that was the problem anyways, as I twisted the cart off it twisted the filler with it, leading me to believe it was plenty close enough - maybe too close?

With all this info - anyone have an ideas on what would produce this behavior? After "clearing" the atty I have reduce vapor production, compared to the stock cart, no flavor, no throat hit, feel like my lungs are going to implode sucking in on this thing...

This post was made after only 2 pulls after "clearing the atty" and moving the filler up a bit. Seems to be getting better. Could poor wicking cause the issues I was experiencing?

Still seems like I am sucking way to damn hard with this straw mod - have others noticed decreased air flow? I thought the intent was the opposite...

You might have to remove part of the polyfill to avoid overcrowding with the straw in there. Also, you may have gotten liquid in the straw itself, thus negating the airflow benefits of having it in there.

When you fill your cart, try to drip on the part of the filler that's farthest from the straw, and let it soak down, and stop filling when the part by the straw is saturated as well as the part you're dripping on.

And try taking off the cart and blowing into the mouthpiece -- you may have gotten some liquid into the airflow area on the side of the cart, which will restrict the draw. Maybe the reason you didn't flood the atty is that the excess liquid all drained back into the sides of the cart where the air is supposed to come through.

Brachinus is right.

When I did this for my husband and I the first time, his worked and mine didn't. I realized that there was too much filler in mine. So I cut off a piece lengthwise, about the width of the straw. You don't want it packed in too tight - loose is better. Just enough to hold the liquid in there for the wick. Also, I turned the angle cut on the bottom TOWARDS the filler. Also make sure the top filler is BELOW the straw top.

Hope that helps!
