I am on my way to the store and it is right next door to a craft store - I saw a post yesterday on someone using the candle wick as a stuffing in their cart - I do not know enough about what candle wicks might be made of or if anyone else has used this method as stuffing for their carts - anyone know if they are safe or should be used. Also, I have the DSE 801 Penstyle, can someone tell me how stuffed the cart should be - really packed or just gently packed with fiber or whatever is used? Thanks so much for any info.

Not knowing much about it, my immediate thoughts would be no. Candle wicks burn up as soon as there's no longer any wax for fuel. e-liquid would not protect the wick from burning. I would think it's the same for lantern wicks as well.

Though, flame is much hotter than our coils run but I wouldn't try it. I use FluVal for filler. Works great and doesn't give as much of a "plastic" taste like the polyfiber stuff from pillows (which, evidently, is what most carts are stuffed with).

Other options I've seen people use on the forums are coffee filters and tea bags. I'm interested to try those if they work. Anything to get completely rid of that hint of unnatural flavor close to the end of your cart.

Neither here nor there
I just diassembled a cigarette tube to get at the filter.
They're wrapped in a couple layers of paper. You'll know you got it all when the filter material loosens up.
I replaced the stuffing with about half a filter's worth of fluff.
The kind I had is a short filter; you may need to cut down a longer one if you're going to try it.
I kept the fibers in their parallel configuration. I did think I'd try rolling them up at some point.
Then I dripped onto the cart until full, put everything back together, and it seems to be working just fine.
I paid about $2 for 200 empty tubes when I tried making my own smokes, so these things are dirt cheap.

you male vapers will probably say ewwwwww... buuutttttt....

I use tampon material. I figure if it's safe enough to stick in my hoo-hah, it's likely safe enough to vape with.

They're covered with an outer layer, just split it with a scissors, and you can separate the fiber "plys". I snip a bit off, wrap it around a big darning needle I have, slip it in the cart cup (I'm using a 306a) and snip to fit.

Adds no flavors or scents either, because plain old type tampons are dye, perfume, etc free.

LMAO Roses! Very clever idea!

I am currently using the tea bag idea and having better success than I had the first time I tried. I used too much at first. From what I've read around here Darlene less is more. If there is too much stuffing the liquid won't wick properly. I've found that to be true for me.

hi, I'm a newbie at all of this but watched some videos about filling your own cartridges..they say you should go to the pet store...buy a "fish filter"..and then cut it into the pieces you need.....

there are tutorial videos on YOU-TUBE showing people doing this and why the fish filter works best.

hope this helps.

Ya know, that makes perfect sense. Heaven knows they are sanitary. More than we can say about a lot of other things we've put into our carts!! (LOVED the hoo-hah line! LOL)

One question; since they expand when they become wet, do you find yourself having to cut them smaller than the cart size, so that when they expand it's not compacted and allows the juice to wick up?

Fluval works the best for me!
The company name is "Fluval" (I mention this, 'cause I thought the 'item' I was looking for was a fluval LOL Luckily, I had read enough here to tell the woman at the store it was for the filter LOL). It's a foam that goes into the filter and a 2 pack cost me $5.79. You just cut it to fit into the cart. One sheet makes up A LOT of carts.

Thanks for the tip on the video! Off to go check it out for additional pointers.....
