I have an old Purpleheart 801 Woody and an 801 Oak/Oak Woodvil (and several other 510 Woodvils, three 510 Mini Woodvils, and one more coming).
I'll get at least one 801 Midi Woodvil.
I love the 801 and prefer it for some of my juices. One juice, in particular, COV Butterscotch is very heavy on the PGA and is almost like vaping liquor on a 510 or 306. So I usually mix it with other juices to "calm" it down some. I can vape it straight with a 2.0 ohm 801.
My DH vaped the pen style 801 with atty and cart for several months before he startd using my 801 Woody. One thing that was very outstanding is the fabulous smell of his tobacco flavors, when we were in close spaces like the car. He's using a 510 Reo Mini, now, with same juices and I do not smell the juices much, in the car. He vapes like a pipe smoker so a lot of his vapor goes into the air that is not inhaled.
The learning curve for the 801 is constant as it vapes much differently with individual juices and as the viscosity of juices change due to air temps. In my case air temps have ranged from single digit F to 110 F as I'm in North Central Texas and I am outside a lot. The 510 and 306 experience is a bit more consistent with different juices and air temps.
Some of us had self feeding issues with every size 510-801 adapter, stealth, medium, tall ( I did not try the adapter with the center pin though.) and every height 801 tube. The catch cup would over flow, when mod was set down and not used for a few minutes. The only way I solved the issue was to use an 801 atty on an 801 native Reo.
As anyone will tell you, my wood 801 Reos take occasional swims in my spa. The 801 atty performs great after a swim, after a blow out and a bit of pulsing dry burning, to get all the water out. With the 510s I have to go in the house and get another atty. BTW.... with the wood Reos, that go swimming I can start vaping them immediately after they swim, with a quick drying of Reo and battery BUT with the metal Reos it's best to let them dry out first. Water gets up in the chamber where the firing pin is housed.
Disclaimer.... I don't recommend letting you Reos swim but DH and I are permissive parents.
I do keep my Wood Reos well oiled with Howard's Sun on outside and Howard's Feed on inside bare wood. And I take only two of my Wood Reos outside near the pool and spa.
My next wood Reo, as soon as I choose the wood, will be a stabilized 801 Midi so an occasional swim will be no big deal. I hope Rob can get it made, in time, to take it to Vegas Vapefest.
I purchased every special 801 that Isaac (Ikenvape) sold, standard, Mini (old and new) and Semi; different ohm ranges. I love the Semi size but they are not being made any more. So I lucked out and bought 20 X 801 Talls 2.0 ohm for <$1.50 each when he changed the innards a bit. I use a pipe cutter to cut them to the size I like, then ream out the end crimp, a bit, with duck bill pliers so an 801 DT or 801-510 DT adapter will fit.
The 801s are very tough attys!!!! And I can go over a month, vaping sweet juices, without needing to clean them. In our house, almost a year vaping for the two of us, only one 801 has been killed/popped. That was the first day DH had his Pen Style 801 from letting it get too dry. It was a low bridge 3.0 ohm using a cart.
Gotta run for now but ask more questions, please. I'm on and off the board, daily, but sometimes don't have time to post.
Hope this helps some, Alice
