I smoke mostly cloves. Once in a while, I'll break out the pipe tobacco.

So it looks like the popular choice is the kGo that other members have posted, but are there any kits with variable settings? I like to be in control, which is probably why I thought the atomizer would be a good first choice.

If you like "control", you sound like a candidate for VV.

The Twist doesn't come in kits yet from many (any?) vendors, but this thread contains links to every item you'd need to get your vape on, from just two vendors:

I've taken a lot of the posts into consideration and I'm leaning towards going with a starter kit that has the kGo, but I really do like the Apollo kit that was posted, especially with the 30% off.

I'm thinking it's probably better go with the kGo kit, since I'll have 5 empty cartomizers to start off with and basically have more selection of trying out different flavors before having to buy extra parts.

Are the flavors kind of like hookah tobacco?

LOLLL I've never smoked hookah tobacco and you'll never find a tobacco tasting juice. Popular tobacco juices are RY4, DK Tab. I DIY juices so I can't really comment on them. You're prolly best to start a new thread and post your questions- expect LOTS of responses. If you do order the Kgo, or any kit, make sure there's at least 1 atomizer for testing juices as there will be lots of horrid tasting ones and you don't want to spoil a cartomizer with foul juice. Also a good idea to buy sampler packs until you know what you like. After selecting a PV choosing juice is the next toughest step BUT once you find some faves you will be in your sweet spot.
Good Luck.

I was going to say earlier "don't be so concerned with getting a "kit", and just get what you think might best suit your needs", but I thought that might sound too much like I was "pushing" the Twist, which I would NEVER do [24 hours a day - a guy's gotta sleep ya know] LOL

I just wouldn't let the cartomizer thing sway your decision to the point that you go with constant voltage over fixed voltage because of five cartomizers. That's about 5 bucks, and you'll be going through them fairly quickly anyway. For me, four days out of a carto is a pretty good run, before it gets added to the pile of cartos that "I'll clean some day".

I have two words for you, and the first one is "variable". :)

***

Boge cartos .92 each Boge Mix n Match (5 Boxes)

Smoktech DCT tank Pro DCTank Tube $8.55

Chrome trim ring eGo Chrome Cone for the 3.5 mL Dual Coil Tank Cartromizer $1.49

USB charger: eGo Rapid USB Charger 6.75

Wall charger: Mini AC Wall to USB Converter 6.25

Plain drip tip: Colored Drip Tip - 510/901 $2.99 (What a rip)

eGo trim piece: eGo Cone Cover for DCTank

Joyetech eGo-C Twist: Joye eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 650mAh Battery $22 x 2

Ecig Batteries twist $19

And please, no "piling on". The OP has stated that he "likes to be in control", and is about to go with fixed voltage because of five cartomizers. I cannot (OK, choose not to) remain silent under those circumstances. I do hope you can all appreciate my situation.

****

The Apollo would also be fine; best for home use, maybe not quite as good for "out and about", and would maybe elicit more unwanted comments like "what is that, a dildo/drug thingie/blah blah blah"?. Like Grimm Green says, the Twist is just a cool device for just about anyone. He tends to leave his other stuff at home lately, and I'm using mine right now while my other stuff sits. I'm going out to dinner soon with a friend, and bringing a couple of Twists with me. Phil Busarado took his to Bermuda with him so people wouldn't gawk at his more advanced stuff. Just talkin' out loud here.

Hahaha, thanks for the great reply guys. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to go with at this point. If I go with the variable I think I'll be spending quite a bit more. Perhaps it might be a good idea to get a kit so I can see if this is for me or not.

So cartomizers don't last long is what I'm starting to see, or can they last as long as atomizers given that they can be "cleaned"?

I've tried a million and one diff ways to clean cartos and it's really not worth it cuz it's hit and miss. With a carto tank, depending on the darkness of the juice, was getting anywhere from 1 week- dark juices, 2 weeks- light juices. They were still going but getting tight draw. Max 1 carto per week and you're looking at $1.50?

Edit: I agree with Flyer- rebuildable clearos are the best route IMO.

lol, I'm so confused now.

You guys are super helpful (not being sarcastic, I seriously appreciate this help, aka, I might have bought something I would regret!)

Let's say I go the route of buying the kGo kit, what else should I consider purchasing with it? Could I get a link to the clearomizer and atomizers you suggest?

If you want a clearo that's rebuildable either get the Stardust V3 or the Viv Nova.

No that's a tank that needs a punched carto in it. You want the one highlighted in red. The blue is carto with tanks system.
Different delivery systems:
atomizer/ atty- an element on to which 3-4 drops of juice is dripped
cartridge/ cart- a container with sponge (filled with juice) that is used with the atty- juice drips on to atty from cart and is vaporized
cartomizer/ carto- metal tube with stuffing and element.
carto+tank- a carto with a hole punched in it. Carto is than placed in a glass, metal or plastic tank which is filled with juice- juice saturates carto by way of hole in carto.
Clearomizer- a plastic or metal tank with a wick and element. Contains NO stuffing

Stardust clearos:

Drip tip comes with the clearos. Gotta go for dinner.

Vapoor and Flyer: so do either of you suggest keeping 1 or 2 of the clearos on hand and then buying a kGo? Or should I look at other kits? Will I need anything else if I buy the kGo kit + 1 or 2 clearos? Like a drip tip?

Sorry, I had no idea how complicated this was.

Onizuka, since you're just starting out, it's hard to say what you are going to like. I suggest you try a few catromizers and at least one clearomizer to see which you prefer. If it turns out you like the cartomizer, then a carto/tank may be a good option for you. If you find you prefer the taste of the clearomizers, then you know not to bother with the cartomizers and carto/tanks. Getting started requires a little experimentation to know what you prefer.

vapoor: enjoy dinner.

Flyer: definitely. I appreciate the suggestions. It's the variety that's out there that makes it complicated. I'll update this post with some links of stuff I intend to buy to see if you folks approve of what I'm doing or if you can find an error in my planned purchase (e.g. if I'm missing something).

Thank you. I agree with Flyer. Also always good to have some spare cartos on hand IMO. Regardless of cartos or clearos you will be happy.
Have a good evening.

If i were you i would establish a good base first. You seem to be leaning that way. A good base would indeed be the kgo and 5 cartomisers. With this you can get going and have a good vape. You'll have plenty of time to buy and try all the many other bits there are to try. Whilst having a reliable e cig in your hand you can browse through all the reviews and vids of other things you may wish to try. Important thing is you will have a good base/platform to build on.

I have been vaping quite a while now and have resisted all the new 'amazing' things there are out there. Simply because i'm perfectly happy vaping on a ego battery with boge cartomisers. I get good throat hit, good flavour, and plenty of vapor to blow out.

No one else seems to have mentioned what nic level you should start with. IMO you'd be good to go at 12mg. Keep it about there if you can.

I vape %100 pg. For me it gives good throat hit and good vapor. It also seems to not clog my cartos so quickly and thus extending their usefullness some. %100 pg doesn't agree with everyone though and i keep a glass of water close by as it can dry your throat some.

Good luck and welcome to the world of vaping.
