Okay, I'll bite in the new members forum - don't have a choice anyway, right?! :)

Newb to the forum, but not a newb of smokin' most anything that's handed my way. But most serious smoking habit has been cigs.

So'z I'm seeing more and more stuff about e-smokes out here, and I'm thinkin', "yeah, I should really check into this and see if I can blow some more money on another habit..." And who knows, maybe even have some fun and/or success at crackin' the hot-ash addiction. Where else but a forum, right?! This sure looks to be the premiere spot on the subject.

Been smokin' the Marlboro Reds for as long as I can remember - at least 25+ years, and been at a quantity of one pack/day for a long ... time. Sure would like to see if I can find something without the tar that resembles those Reds, both in nic content and lung hit. Price won't be an issue, as a pack/day = $40 to $50 month anyway...

So I'll be looking for some good suggestions on gear, juice and accessories from my fellow Red smoking nico-vapor heads out here on what's been working for you - vaporizers, batts, juice, etc.

Okay, so there's the JAFN intro. Thank you to the forum owner(s), admins and population for hosting my nonsense... :) We'll be talkin'...

I was a 2 PAD red smoker for 25 years also. I got a 510 kit one day to try (not to quit ) 3 days later I never smoked again. You will not find anything that tastes like out reds man... I vape fruit flavors now like honeydew N stuff. I wish you luck with anything you decide.

the 510 was short lived also...

I now vape from a Buzz w/901 and a VV Ali'i they give me that warmth you get with the cigs. I have liked most of madvapes flavors. Also tried a lot of other venders here with less success.

BTW I can now run up stairs w/o effort and or loss of breath and only been on this since July 31 st... Done smoking Aug 2-3 I do warn you cigs stink after you quit. I cant stand the smell now ...

Hi and welcome to ECF. A pack a day = $40 to $50 a month? How much are smokes where you live? Here in Ohio it'd run around $150/month or more. Anyway, you didn't say exactly what you're looking for so it's hard to give any advice. So when you wanna know something just ask, there's tons of knowldgeable people waiting right by their computers for your questions.

Hmmm - I did poor math thar, didn't I?! You are exactly right - $140 to $150/month. Double that face in my palms...

I'm sure I'll be reading around the forum and learning, and I already have been, but I'd also like to cut to the chase and simply learn what others have liked and had success with that are in a similar fashion to myself, like Mr.JcP replied (thanks bud), without blowing money on inferior or less than excellent products if I can help it... :)

For a new person to vaping, I would suggest getting the eGo 510 kit. Much better battery than the regular 510. The regular 510 battery will last you an hour whereas the eGo 510 will last 4-5 hours. And if you like the eGo then you might want to look at all the 5 volt mods for your next PV (personal vaporizer). There are also different atomizer sizes than just the 510 (such as the 801 and 901). But the eGo is a good starting point.

Next, get yourself several bottles of e-liquid. It tastes much better than the prefilled carts and costs much less. Based on what you smoked (I smoked Marlboro's) I would strongly suggest you start out with 24mg nicotine strength e-liquid if you really want to make the transition to vaping. I've tried about 10 different tobacco flavored liquids. None are going to be just like what you are use to. The one that comes the closes to me is KENT flavor from Rocky Mountain Vapor: E-Liquid 10ML 24MG

He also does free shipping for orders over $14. I would also suggest getting at least one extra atomizer and 4-5 blank carts.

Good Luck

Suggestions on gear and accessories huh. Well most people will recommend the eGo or Riva. It's got good battery life and isn't too expensive anymore. Great choice. Check here Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510. A standard battery will give you around 6 to 8 hours of vaping on a charge. It doesn't look like a smoke, but it's a good solid unit. Accessories I'd recommend a couple of extra atomizers. They do go out on you now and again so you want at least a couple on hand. I'd also get a box of cartomizers at around $8 or so. They're more convenient because they hold more juice and you may like them, you may not. Also get a drip tip to try. Make sure it's for a 510 and it'll work on the eGo/Riva. They're between $1 and $4 for a plastic one which will work just fine. After that I'd say at least 40ml of juice in small 5ml or 10ml bottles. Get'em in different flavors and strengths like 18mg or 24mg or so. 40ml will keep you vaping for around 10 days in which time you can figure out what strength works and what flavors you like. Past that there's not much else to get going. If you're at a computer a lot you might like a passthrough. It just plugs into a usb port for power so no charging worries, they're only about $15 for a 510 PT which is compatible with the eGo/Riva setup. Here's where I get most of my stuff Litecigusa.net. Great vendor, with the best customer service, decent prices, and fast shipping. Their line of High Caliber juices are pretty good, especially the vanilla which mixes well with tobacco flavors too. You can get a complete setup of PV, accessories, and enough juice for a while for less than $100 if you shop around a bit. But watch the shipping charges as they can be expensive some places. I know Lightcigusa is only $2 on orders up to $75, after that it's free. Other places will charge $6 or more per order.

Man, you guys are the best - these are the types of responses I was hoping for, for sure! And thanks for the excellent detail too. You folks have taught me more within this thread than I figured out myself in 5 hours of reading so far. It's early in the morn for me right now, but I will be checking into every suggestion and reading up on every detail you've supplied so far, and will certainly keep ya'll up to date with where I'm at, with any questions to boot.

And cskent, it's funny about your thoughts on a passthrough, it's like you read my mind - been in IT for over 30 years.

Thanks again, guys. Others, please chip-in as well, and thanks...
