As I really like and rate the Kanger mini protank, I would suggest the myepack mini protank kit.
OR, you could get a "double" battery kit. One battery is great to try out vaping but becomes a problem, um, um, as soon as you need to charge the battery.

I started vaping properly (100% of the time) after my failure with plastic sticks on a double Riva kit from Vape Escape.
Then I got a Vision Spinner and had 3 batteries.

If I was buying tomorrow (or recommending) and money was no object, I'd order 1 mini protank kit.
I'd find a "Spinner" battery from anywhere that seems a good price
an extra mini protank and a selection of e-liquid.

That's going to be £50 minimum, hence starting with just one all-in-one kit and putting extra stuff on hold until you find your feet.

For liquid, Grizwald at vape escape does samplers (they are v.v.good liquids) and Joose Juice are doing a crazy 10ml for £1.49 tester selection which you can tailor make. I have 4 on the way.

Vapeland do a cheap-ish double eGo kit too. VISION V3 EGO BLACK KIT - 900MAH

Any of these are not going to let you down. I have no affiliation.

Thanks again for all the help. I've followed your links and like the look of the Vision V3 ego black kit because the batteries are 900 mah (which I think means they last longer than the other ones you suggest which have less mah?).

I assume it doesn't come with any liquid but on the same page they have virginia 30 mil for £7.99 so total price about £34 which is about the same as a carton of 100 cigarettes so that sounds good to me.

Some more questions (sorry). How long does 30 mil of liquid last can you give a rough equivalent of how many cigs it is equal to? Also if I buy this kit am I right I would just have to buy liquid after that and would I have to buy only the liquid that fits with this kit or will all liquids work with all kits?

Last question the V3 info says I have to unscrew the kit and put it all back together when I first get it how fiddly is this to perform?

Thanks so much for all the help.

OK, I'll try to answer in order.
1) 900mAh is better than 650 or 350 or whatever. I used 2 x 1,100mAh Rivas in the early days. I can do a day on 1,000 approx, but it will vary from vaper to vaper. Some people say 100 mAh averages out at one hour (not non-stop vaping, but a quick over-a-day average).

One hour for me might be one vape of 1 dozen puffs or 2 vapes, as I feel the need.

2) Buying 30ml is a big gamble (even it's cheap) as if you don't like the flavour, you are stuck with it.
In my vaping history, I have only bought 5 x 30ml bottles, all of which I tried in 10ml. I finished two of them this week, it's taken me a year!! :)

I smoked under 15, sometimes under 10 a day, and use 1.5-2.0ml a day. That makes me a light-ish vaper. These days, I vape more times than I smoked. For me, 1ml will do 10 vapes varying from say 7 or 8 puffs to 20 (?) or so. On standard power kit, 30ml would be 2-3 weeks of liquid, I guess. It's hard to compare. Some folk vape 3ml, others double that, some prefer less strong juice, others high strength.

3) Liquids are compatible with all equipment, more or less. 100% VG liquid is very thick though and might need a special set-up. I use 80/20 or 70/30 juice. I have no preference really, although PG does disagree with me ever so slightly...not enough to vape VG only liquid though.

4) Taking stuff apart is easy, once you are used to it. We all make mistakes from time to time (there's a funny story on AAEC-UK about an experienced vaper messing up almost every day). I knew what I was doing within a week or so. A V3 clearomiser is not tricky to fill up, take apart (for cleaning or replacing the atomizer head), you unscrew the drip tip and squeeze liquid down the side of the tank, avoiding the centre breather hole. A few drops won't hurt in all honesty.

The V3 clearomisers are many people's entry into vaping. They work well, but you might find you need to swoosh it around a bit to keep the wick wet. Taste-wise, they are quite good. The vapour will be a bit warm and as long as you keep the wick and coil wet, will work just great.

If I think of more, I'll come back. Or, ask away any questions.

Oh, just to say - the liquids from Vapeland are Hangsen. Hangsen is OK; I personally only like about 10% of them. I vape RY6 a lot (not generally liked, and quite rare) but don't enjoy their RY4. Juice (e-liquid) is so much about personal taste. I would suggest trying the 555 over the USA blend.

I am reading this forum to have better ideas or every information available. But I always feel ignorant. I dont give a hood what do I vape, with what I vape How long I vape, how much nic I have been getting. Believe me. I had not been asking these questions when I had been smoking too. I can understand this for flavour because I had been smoking non flavoured raw tobacco Roll my own so anything would do. Found 3 liquids excellent for me.buying 24mg/ml (This is the limit I can find here not by law, by smugglers choices) and got VG From food suppliers, I prepare my own but even if my evic should show how much nic I intake I would not know because I get some add other put VG on so I dont know the strength of nic. (I did not know it with cigarettes too) I was sold some no name batteries, no name clearos in the beginning I went to Red Kiwi CE4V3 set and at last got an evic and a clone vivi nova there you are. All this ignorance I am happy with all set up and enjoying it tickled death level.
An ex-smoker should not ask what which is it dangerous staff. you had been inhaling 4000 materials including DDT some of them fatal some of them carcinogen (There are roughly 600 materials in unburned cigarette) We fight with 3-4 materials and levels or if this touch that... Funny but again I am ignorant.

Thanks again. Something else that occurred to me, people keep talking about replacement parts. If I buy one of these starter kits like the V3 how long should I expect it to last and which parts typically need replacing and how often?

It's a bit weird choosing flavours over the internet as well since I can't test them. I like the look of the Marlborough ones (Red US mix?) I used to smoke those when I first started smoking. Are these close in flavour to the real thing? I'm not really into things like butterscotch flavour or similar stuff I'd rather get a nice tobacco flavour to start with at least.

The prices for e liquid really seem to vary a lot from the links you gave. I'm thinking I might buy a kit and start with maybe two 10ml eliquids so I have two flavours to try out.

The only other thing I'm unsure about is nicotine level. Most seem to come in 18mg which they say is medium strength. The cigs I smoke say 0,9 mg nicotine in a pack of 20 would 18mg be on a par with that?

Thanks a lot djs I feel I am actually getting close to being able to make a purchase now with all the help I'm getting from you and the others on here.

Hi again Silent Scream :)

Your batteries should last you several months - if not a year, before they will no longer take a charge. The clearos, as long as you don't break them (some e-liquids can crack clearos) should also last a long time, but you will have to replace the heads, every week or so, depending on how much you vape.

As well as Joose-Juice's 10ml taster bottles being fantastic value at only £1.49, they do a good range of nicotine strength & VG/PG mix -

10ml Tasters - Items - Joose Juice E-Liquids

As for what nic strength to go for, a lot depends on how many ciggies you smoke a day.

Hi again Chrissie :)

Well it seems with every question people answer I somehow end up with new ones. I'm not sure what clearos are (is that the tube at the end of the holder?) I'm not sure what you mean by heads either I'm assuming that's the tip, the part you put to your mouth?

Those prices are excellent for those tasters but they don't have the tobacco flavours I want and I'm not keen on this idea of 'steeping' to get the tobacco flavour I'd rather something I could use straight away. Shame though, those prices are really good.

Thanks again Chrissie, one last question (for now at least) I smoke about 20 a day, more if I'm having a beer at the weekends or watching football. Would 18 mg be strong enough for me?

Also, I have no idea what effect the ratios of pv/vg have, it seems the higher the pv the more throat hit you get? Thanks again, I will keep quiet after this and do some more reading up on it all lol.

You can keep asking...that's OK :)

I started on 24mg liquid to kick the fags. That was using a mini look-a-like ecig. Once I swapped to a proper double battery kit, I went with 18mg and have stayed there since. I have some 10mg I use for the evenings sometimes. The more liquid vapourized, the more nicotine you'll get.

A clearo (clearomiser) is the vaping term for a clear tank (usually plastic, now commonly/often pyrex) that houses an atomizer.
I guess it came from the word cartomizer, which was a cartridge with an inbuilt atomizer. In order to establish the difference between certain things, a clear tank atomizer got shortened to clearomizer. The atomizer bit is just a wire coil that heats up (like a toaster element) to make the steam/vapour from the liquid.
In a clearomizer the atomizer "bit" is known as the head.

The shopping mall e-cigs mostly use cartomizers (sometimes known as refills or e-tips in the case of E-Lites). You can buy blank cartomizers and use them on any battery. A cartomizer costs about £1 and pennies to fill. Even with the most expensive e-liquid 1ml is never more than 50-60 pence.

I use clearomisers (mini protank, big protank, davide, iClear). They are all very similar. Let's say I fill them up using 2.0ml a day for £1, that's £365 a year on liquid. To provide the same amount vapour/nicotine from a shop bought cartomizer would require 2 or more cartomizers a day. That would cost £2,900 a year from the UKs most expensive brand.

Let's say a medium smoker physically needs 2ml of 18mg liquid to match their smoking habit nicotine intake, I'm sure you'll agree £2,900 a year compared to £365 is unnecessary expense.

You don't want to be thinking about cost too much in the early days. I would say nicolites and skycig and E-Lites are OK if you are either a light smoker (less than 10) or just want a device to use to get around the smoking ban. Other than that, they are expensive, frustrating products that barely produce much vapour and certainly fall short in the nicotine delivery department. The smoko you tried would be £1,000s every year in refills.

I'd say you might need to go for 24mg to begin with - especially for when you are having a beer :D

Yes the higher the PG content, the more throat hit you get & the higher the VG content, you get more vapour.

Any thoughts on a decent payoff pg/vg scenario for someone who likes a throat hit but also likes to see the 'smoke' coming out?

You can keep asking...that's OK :)

When you say the more liquid vapourised the more nicotine you get does that mean the more vg in the liquid the better nicotine hit? I am really glad I declined the smokos and then found this place to set me on the right track.
