Hiya BotherBob! I can see why you’re a guru. Thanks for that bit of science, totally makes sense now. Also I super appreciate the helpful links. I’m so glad I found this forum....now I don’t feel like I’m on this journey alone. Welcome and glad you joined.
A quick primer about ohms, heat of vape and wattage when compared to cost. The higher the ohm values generally require less power (watts) needed and should give you a cooler vape. You are vaping sub ohm coils (less than standard 1 ohm and above coils) which are gleefully recommended by manufacturers and vape suppliers. It's like trying to get better mileage out to a truck, not going to happen.
Might want to look at a hybrid tank where you can buy coils ready made and when you feel ready to build your own coils and wick them, build on the same tank.

Thank you so much...I’ve recieved such a warm welcome, & being such a newbie I wasn’t sure if I would. But you guys are awesome!Hello and welcome to ecf
———————————————————Welcome aboard @Persephone33. I like low power and low temperature as well, I use both depending on the mod. Kentucky is beautiful country. I lived out in Marion for most of the 80's. Good times.
I also vote for the .5 coils.
28-40W = low wattage?Ok...you probably knew this was coming, yup, I have a coil question. I vape between 28-40W & stay away from TC. My Aspire NX75 has a million settings. Anyway, I avoid a “hot hit” which is why I’m at such a low wattage. I’m approaching the end of my first 5 pack that came with everything I bought from a friend that had never smoked cigs & realized she didn’t enjoy vaping (duh! silly girl) but just wanted to try it. Sorry, I’m rambling- I got the Aspire along with a Tobeco 25 Supertank which I like quite a bit. In your opinion, with my low wattage vaping preference, should I order .2 (again as that’s what I’ve had) or do you think .5 would be better? I read somewhere that vaping at a low wattage on a certain resistance will burn coils faster & I certainly don’t need that. Thanks for reading my tangents.
———————————————————
Sweet!!! I’m def going with the .5 now. Since my bought-from-a-friend startup kit had four .2 coils yet, I have just been using those w/very low temp & wattage is mid 30s. Glad to hear that you have good things to say about KY & have fond memories here. I’m sure you know how it is that a handful of uneducated stereotypical types think we’re all inbred hicks & that couldnt be further from the truth! Not familiar with Marion, but I’m sure it’s as beautiful as Derby City or maybe even more so. Where/why did you leave the Bluegrass State?
28-40W = low wattage?I call 12-22w low wattage, for me anyhow.
I see you have an Aspire NX75 ---> nice. Which do you have?
I just got mine in the mail today. Love it, running it at 18w atm and soon will check it out in TC. I bought the silver NX75-A. The aluminum CNC special edition direct from Aspire. They are the only one to still have them in stock. The zinc version is still available in the US. A few people here have them + love 'em. They are a very nice mod. Very solidly built from a solid block of aluminum.
I haven't messed with any options just yet but I will .. soon.
Based on my quick research, that tank uses kanthal coils, so TC won't work for them. There is a compatibility list around here somewhere, but I believe the notch coil is made from SS (stainless steel) and has been known to give great flavor in the lower (25-40) wattage range. It just seems like most ppl vape at such a high wattage that my 20-35 or so seems low. Trust me, there are times that I go lower. As far as my Aspire, I got my hands on the original, when there were only 3 colors to choose from. I love that there are so many settings to play with, but I think I’m gonna hang with an experienced vaper for some advice. I like a cool vape so I had TC at its lowest. Now- I stick to wattage mode. Please tell me what settings you end up using (especially on TC). So many YouTube vids show ppl vaping close to their tanks wattage limit...like 75 & higher! I’m about a week or so into vaping. I smoked Camel Lights from age 17 then gradually switched to the Vuse Solo & loved it except it’s a rip off & the $8 pack of 2 cartridges lasts 1 day for me. Crazy!!! Plus, at 48% nic level- I thought, ‘OK girl, you can do this vaping thing’ & I’m so glad I did!!now if I could find at least a 24% nic level yummy ejuice I’d be over the moon!!! Enjoy your Aspire! Oh, did you get the starter kit? I did not, so I’m using the Tobeco 25mm Supertank & it’s awesome. What are you using?

I bought the NX75-A mod not the kit. I love single 18650 mods and really wanted the cnc aluminum NX75. MTL (mouth to lung) is primarily how I vape so 12-22 watts is perfect for me.
As far as what gear I am using now .. I mix things up everyday with atty's and mods. I usually have 3-4 different setups running on any given day. Currently I am running a couple of Kayfun Prime's (RTA). One is on a JacVapour Series-B DNA 75 mod. The other is being used on the NX75-A and also on an asMODus Colossal 80W. I am also using a couple Atmizoo Creek RDA's, one is on an asMODus Luna squonker and the other I am dripping with on a Squid v3 Double Barrel.
The atty's I use are all RBA's or ReBuildable Atomizers. My Prime is an RTA = rebuildable tank atomizer. My Creek is an RDA = rebuildable dripping atomizer. They are all rebuildable, meaning I build my own coils and wick them with cotton or rayon. Not all people are comfortable building. Some stay with drop in coils. Some here do both. Some only build.
You will find that there is no best way, or best tank or best mod or even best with settings (wattage versus TC). TC = temperature control. It is personal to each individual. It all comes down to what you feel is best for you by trying different things and in your desire to learn.
If you are looking for higher nic level juice I would suggest Heather's Heavenly Vapes. Many folks here love their juices and I know you can get higher nic juice there. Look here Heather's Heavenly Vapes and you will find some very good reviews from folks there.
If you have any questions about their juices just ask in The Big Thread (part 6) as everyone there is super helpful. The mod in that thread is the HHV rep and will be able to help you. Here Heather's Heavenly Vapes - THE BIG THREAD (Part 6)
I make my own juice (DIY) so I really can't offer up any specific brands of juice(s) for you to try.
As for your Tobeco 25mm Supertank, I don't know anything about that tank or its capabilities. I am certain there are people here who do know and can help you. @HigherStateD seems to have a handle on your tank and what it can and can't do.
Hope that helps!![]()
@BrotherBob Thanks SOOOOOO much for those helpful links. I promise you haven’t wasted your time. Again... I totally get why you are guru status. Enjoy your weekend....Vape LoveWelcome and glad you joined.
