Hi - newbie needs some help - clearomizers/ecig upgrade?

Hi - I'm new to this forum and new to vaping. I bought an Ego Vision Passthrough kit from a local store back in November, and I've slowly been trying to get more into vaping and off of the real cigs. It's been a bit easier in this cold Minnesota weather when I have NO DESIRE to go outside at work and smoke!

Anyway, as I'm getting more into this I'm going through the clearomizers quite a bit I think. When I got my starter kit they said they were the kind you replace (here's a link to what I got - Atomizers - Ego Vision) about every 3 weeks or so depending on how much you use it. I've been buying 2 at a time so I can use a couple of different flavors at once but now it seems like I've had the last two for only 2 weeks and I'm starting to get a burning taste in both of them - some times to the point where I can't even really tell what flavor I'm vaping, which seems pretty quick.

So - on to my questions:

• If I switch from one flavor to another am I supposed to clean the clearomizer out first? If so how do I do this?
• Will cleaning it also help it last longer?
• I've seen folks on the forum talk about buying sepcific atomizers/clearimizers (am I getting my terminology confused?). What is the difference? Are they all "disposable" or is there something I should be looking at that lasts longer? I have searched a bit and don't see any references to disposable ones on the forum, but could be looking in the wrong place.
• I think I like the actual ecig I have - it's pretty basic but I like that it holds a fair amount of juice and the battery seems to be decent. That said, I'd like to get another one as I occassionally forget mine charging at home or work so am looking for suggestions on something that would still be easy to use but a step up. Suggestions? 1st:id clean them out unless you dont mid the taste mixing in with the new flavour but some flavour just dont mix well lol, I rinse mines with water r soapy wzter and do a dry burn to remove some water, fill with new juice and leave for a second to soak up the juice. first couple of hits arent that nice so I tend to not inhale them then its plain sailing from there.

2nd:not to sure about last longer but it will stop it gunking up and help you get a better vape from them overall in my experience.

3rd: disposal clearomizers ive found a pain to be honest, you probably have the standard iclear16 ce4 that are disposal. I find the ce5+ iclear 16 better as you can change the coil makeing them last longer and also they are duel coil giveing you a better throat hit and more vapour. I also like the evod clearomizers for my sweet juices as its bottom coil and really brings the flavours out. best thing is to try drifferent types etc to find what you like, top coil gives warm vape, bottom coil gives cool vaoe and duel coil gives more vapour as it has two coils.

4th: for a starter you have decent battery and if you would like something better maybe a itaste vv v3, its vv and vw meaning you can turn up the output for more kick but you would need to research battery usage etc like ohms law to really benefit from it and not just burn your clearomizers. paradisevapeuk.co.uk are doing a itaste vv v3 with 5 iclear rebuidable clearomizers for £30.

Super easy to use tank - ARO Bottom Coil Tank you just buy a pack of the coil heads for about 6 bucks for 5 coils. Those will need to be replaced every 2-6 weeks depending on juice and how frequently you use them ( i rotate a bunch mine last 8-10 weeks)

Thanks for the tips! I looked at this tank and it looks good - but I don't see the coil heads on their website - just the tank. I assume I need to order both? Also are you saying the tank lasts 8-10 weeks and you replace the coil every 2-6 weeks? Sorry I'm still trying to figure all this stuff out and getting a bit lost with all of the new terms!

I've tried all of those. I just got a protank mini 2 from skyline vapor in spring and I love it. It will last a long time. It is glass instead of plastic so you can vape all ejuices in it without the risk of cracking. Also, i replace my coils maybe every 2 weeks. It's a bottom coil also which IMO are the best. I use it on my MVP 2

I have no advice for you but I saw that you were in Plymouth so I thought I would say hi from down the road...Haha!

I have been going to the ecigshop in Anoka and they are very knowledgeable and let you try all of the different set ups and juice without getting annoyed with me. The shop in New Hope off of 36th are snobby with newbs so avoid that place until you know what you are doing and what you want. They have decent prices on 15ml bottles though.

Since I haven't use this clearo, I might be wrong, but looks like you should be able to just replace the atty head.

It isn't recommended to dry-burn EVOD coils because the coil leads also heat up and they can burn the insulator in the base. On the other hand if you do and it ruins the atomiser, you've only destroyed the atomiser that you would have had to throw out anyway. In fact I believe that newer ones use heat-resistant insulators.

I tend to use coils for a month or two without problems. Other people replace them every week or even more often. It rather depends on your sense of taste, the liquid you vape, the power you put through them, and how much you enjoy buying and fitting new heads.

The tank itself will last a long, long time.

If you find yourself wanting to throw away an atomiser because the coil is too far gone, don't. Put it aside, then at some later time you can get some Kanthal wire (and an ohm meter) and have a play at recoiling them.

Fat Willy - so funny it's a small world - I lived in Maple Grove for 15 years before moving to Plymouth! Yes I have been to both shops and agree with you (bought my starter kit in Anoka and have stopped in New Hope a couple of times because it's on my way home from work). I also think the New Hope store is dark and feels kind of sinister and gloomy and the Anoka store is so bright and friendly. Wouldn't think that makes a difference but when you walk in it's just a completely different atmosphere! Also couldn't find a juice I liked in New Hope.

Welcome from another Minne-snow-tan! I live in the Brooklyn Park area. I bought my first Itaste VV/VW up in Anoka after trying the V2 cigalikes for a month. I didn't like how the juices up there went down in 6mg increments. I then found the Ecig Crib in .... Rapids. They adjust the nicotine at 1mg increments which has helped me go from 16mg down to 8 on everything now. I am happy to say we have a store in Brooklyn Park now that also does some very nice juices and will mix and match flavors for you at any nicotine level you want. I am planning a trip soon to see if I can find a couple new good flavors there, but the Ecig Crib in .... Rapids also has a great deal Monday thru Thursday Noon to 4pm where if you buy a bottle of juice, they will sell the 2nd bottle for 1/2 price! That saves me about $9 every time I go there for new juices! Good luck with your Vaping journey!

Lisa, the clearomizer you linked to does not have a replaceable coil. It's a CE4. You'll need to get a CE5 to get a replaceable coil for that style clearo.

The most recommended ego-style starter kit with clearomizers right now is: Spinner/Twist Ego VV Tank Combo.

It gives you a chance to try both a Spinner and a Twist battery and to try 2 different kinds of clearomizers with replaceable coils.

As for cleaning, just run some hot water through your clearo whenever it starts tasting funny or whenever the juice starts to look dark and thick. That will help it last a little longer and make it taste better in the meantime.

As long as you have a couple of good variable voltage batteries (Spinner or Twist), there's a whole world of possibilities for you to try: CE5, Vivi Nova, T2, T3, Protank, dripping atomizers, cartomizers, carto-tanks, . . . .

I clean tanks w/ everclear but you also will need a nice airtight container so it wont evaporate so fast lol, i might (might) just add a different juice to a dirty tank if its similar, but to really taste a new juice or play with a new coil...clean tank is nice.

I looked at both the Spinner and Twist batteries they offer and to be honest I'm a bit confused as to the difference (besides strength of battery) in each? Read all of the reviews too on the site and it seems like the Spinner is a bit better and easier to use. Is there a real big difference?

Then I just need to decide on the Cartomizers - I'm thinking I will upgrade one and try the mini-kanger protank for one of them. Not sure which other one I will get.

The Spinner is easier to read the voltage setting and goes up to 1300 mah. But, I like the Twist because it's made by Joyetech and has a higher amp limit (better for handling dual coils). Besides, who bothers to actually look at the voltage settings anyway? I just start at the lowest setting and keep turning until it tastes right.

As a person who doesn't have the best of luck with electronics, I'ld rather get the very best quality I can to help improve my odds of not having any problems. But, if you're never going to use dual coils or anything with a resistance below 2.0 ohms, it probably doesn't matter which one you get.

As for clearomizers, I personally prefer top coils. But, I seem to be in the minority. Hell, I really prefer dripping with a 306 or using carto-tanks. So, I'm not a good person to ask about clearos.
