I'm new, so hi and all that; Very useful tips etc here.

Anyway, just wondered if you - like me - have found people very annoyed with your cig use because they cant' stand to see people having a good time?

At work, I was chatting to a bloke who was very pleased that indoor public smoking is effectively banned in the UK, so I whipped out my e-cig and talked him through how it worked. The look on his face when I took a drag and then puffed out vapour was priceless!

"But that's SMOKE!"

"No, it's steam - nothing's burning"

"BUT...BUT ... won't it set off a smoke detector?"

"Well, let's see" I walk to a nearby ceiling-mounted detector an puff a lungfull at it. Nothing happens, of course.

"BUT...BUT... It's SMOKE"

"Well, it quite clearly isn't, is it?"

He was quite clearly offended by my cheating!

If there are any hint of problems, I usually inhale and hold it in. There is almost nothing when I exhale.

I should REALLY stop doing it at work though. hehe. shouldn't tempt HR.

But i can't stop by myself!

Lol, I work in HR trust me, we ain't that bad:D! Can't wait to try it out in the office tomorrow!

I've been warming everyone up about it, luckily I've recruited most of our directors myself so I should be able to get away with it for a day or two!

Jimblibs: My wife can tell what flavor I'm smoking. She got "almond" right as we rode in the car with closed windows and I merrily e-puffed. We had a thread sometime back about co-workers complaining of being made ill by the "second-hand vapor" from one e-smoker.

So ... it DOES smell. We'll never smell it, of course. Our smellers are shot.

If you hold your breath for awhile, it greatly diminishes the smoke if not entirely eliminates it. Steam condenses more quickly than real smoke, so you don't have to hold your breath for a really long time. 10 seconds is generally enough.

It will give you a hair of a nicotine rush, but if you're trying to hide the smoke it's not so much that it's not worth avoiding an awkward situation (like when I took a drag off mine at work today and the member of management most notorious for getting upset over every slight infraction walked by).

Perhaps it would have been fun to see the expression on his face after watching me blow out a huge billow of smoke, but my factory has seen layoffs to and I decided to avoid tempting them too.

But if the vapor exhaled is supposed to be 99,9% nicotine free, why holding the breath longer would give you a greater nicotine rush?
