might have to try a twisted build. but you can't be worried about the resistance with that wire. as long as it will fire, you're good

Yeah, I'm none too worried about the resistance. It is quite different though in that you don't dry burn it and squeeze for touching micro coils. Plus, it is a bear to work with being that it is very ductile/malleable.

I wicked it as I normally do but maybe something went wrong when I screwed the chimney on. I'll open it up this afternoon and have a look. Going to try a different build on it anyway.

Well, I took pictures of my initial build. Loaded them to my PC. Resized them and for the life of me, I cannot find the originals or the resized pix. I guess I am losing my mind.

My previous post asking for help was user error (but, of course:)). After removing the chimney, I saw where the wick was browned only on one side. Why? Because this idiot bumped the coil out of position (shifted to one side of the air hole) and didn't notice before screwing the chimney back on. D'oh!

Nonetheless! I rebuilt the DNA40 tonight. Used a larger mandrel - 2.5mm. 10 wraps of 30g Ni200 ohming out to .21 and used my normal 22-24w. Vaping wonderfully. 2 builds and I think I might have this figured out.

Getting the plumes I was with Kanthal and the flavor is there now. Shame I didn't take pix of the build. Oh well, next time.

Love the mods guys!!! Do we not dry fire the coils in our DNA 40 chips? I have been and make sure it glows like kanthal... Should I space the coils instead of touching with 28ga ni200.

It's pretty much all guess work right now. There are no hard and fast rules yet that I have found.

Some do and some don't. I have heard that Nickel does bad things if dry fired above 600F so I don't do it.

I've only wrapped 2 coils thus far and both have been contact coils.

Trial and error my friend, trial and error.
