I started using carto tanks about a month ago.
I have only used smok cartos until last night.
My setup is a provari/Hippo v2/ Ibtanked standard size

I primed my first ikenvape fusion carto slid it in the tank and when I went to screw it down into the hippo it wouldnt budge.
I cleaned the threads off the carto and hippo and tried again. Still wouldnt budge.
I took the hippo off and tried to screw the carto directly into the provari and it went in perfect.
I proceeded to prime another ikenvape fusion, I placed it in the tank and when i screwed it into the hippo it had some resistance to it but it finally screwed all the way in.

Im not sure if this was a fluke of quality control or what.

sss1911, I read a bit about the issues you're having in the IKV subforum. You may want to do some searching there.

I'll share some wisdom I learned when I was working in a steel fabrication shop. We had 2 main rules. If it doesn't fit, grab a hammer. If the hammer doesn't work, get a bigger hammer. :D

I had the same problem with a few of the ikenvape cartons and the hippo v2 as well. I just finally took the hippo as it was not really doing anything for air with the flanged cartos but seemed weird to me too! I almost felt I was going to strip the hippo or the cargo so I just removed it!! I just hated to not use the hippo even as a ring for what you pay for it so I still don't know of it is a carto thread problem or a hippo problem! If would seem that since the carti screws fine into the provari, it is a hippo threading issue....I will stay tuned!

Just got my Hippo v2 and it looks great on my ProVari, but I'm having the same problem as others in this thread ... in my case, it is the Kayfun Lite Plus that will not screw into my Hippo. It screws into the ProVari directly just fine. Oddly, my Russian 91%, which is supposed to be a 1:1 clone of the Kayfun Lite, screws into the Hippo with no problems! So why will the Russian work while the Kayfun won't?

So far, I've tried ProTanks, Penelopes, Ithakas, and an AGA-T on the Hippo ... everything fits fine except for the Kayfun!

Perseas, GP product designer/modder; stated that Kayfuns don't have 100% 510 connector tolerances... some are larger (mm wise) and have also posted issues with the GP Paps Mech Mods. Something that SM has to be aware of and (hopefully) working to correct.

Nevertheless, the good thing is that those types of devices (attys) don't really benefit having a Hippo under them, since their airflow isn't supplied through the 510 connector. But regardless, KFL issues have resonated with other vapers and been verified by modders.

Sry to thread bomb a little here :offtopic: (sry OP!! But thank you for the thread). I'm about to order Sophia, Dtank and SnP tank w/Boge cartos and I also have Ikenvape. Are any of these items going to be hard to thread on a Hippo???

I've been looking at the Hippo cuz it looks good (lol) but I guess my question is with these set ups I mentioned, using a ProVari, is it needed or more for looks? I have time to order the Hippos cuz it seems to be sold out everywhere anyway....

Ang, I should be receiving my Hippo V2s any day now (fingers crossed). I don't use flanged cartos; it seems both the OP and darkgear were having trouble with them. Since I have both Boge and IKV non-flanged cartos, I'll do a little test once the Hippos get here and let ya know.

I've already prepared my PT2 base to use as a "thread-cleaner" on the Hippo if need be.

As far as ordering goes, I think mine was a fluke...during a bout of insomnia, I happened to be surfing Atmistique's website and saw that they had both versions in stock - I ended up placing my order at around 2am, I think. When I checked the next morning, they were out of stock again.

Thx..what's the difference between both versions? And glad you mentioned something about the flange cuz all my Ikenvapes I have right now are all flanged......

Differences between the Hippo V1 and V2? IIRC, I think they tweaked the airflow and the tolerances between the top cap on the ProVari and the bottom edge of the Hippo ring, i.e., they made it so that the two no longer came in contact with each other. Check out Todd's vids - I think that's where I got the above info.
