I've gone ahead and went back into the FSK settings and experimented a bit further, and found that if I went all the way down to 1.5% then my Lemo would not fire (the voltage and watts went to "0" when I hit the fire button), so I started to raise the FSK from there and got to 1.8% before it would fire again, I decided to set the FSK to 2%, the Temp to 450°F, and watts to 16 in xXx mode. Same build and atty, Lemo V1, 6/5 wraps of 28g NiCr, spaced coil, KGD wicking, 1.10Ω. I think I have it a bit better dialed in, at this point any way. This is for anyone having problems getting their NiCr build up and running on this New Technology. FSK_S_1.2.3 Slice update.

I'm down to about the last half ml of juice in my Lemo (I wanna see if it will TC correctly for me when dry), and that's just since 1000 hrs this morning when I filled it up with 5ml. I've NEVER vaped that much juice in such a short amount of time (I'm usually at 4ml for the whole day), I'm almost Nicotined out. Whew .

See why we recommend them and the TC on the FSK. A DNA cannot TC NiCr like that. Very cool Technology. You really are guessing the Temp without comparing it next to a DNA though.

At first, I was wondering if I should get a DNA just to compare vapes so I could get the FSK close to Bang ON. I don't think I need to now, I'm happy. Temp Guessing, Right On Tpat.
Man, This is real "Kick in the Pants" Fun. I just updated to 1.2.4 also, on the first try even.

I've been going off of what my vape feels like in watts mode to setup TC mode. That's as close as I can come.

I just did a refill on my Lemo V1, I was in Temp Control mode with NiCr, the tank was empty and I got an off taste (first sign of a wick getting dried out), and as many might know, the Lemo V1 is a Bottom Fill RTA, which means that I had to take my Lemo off my "Slice" to refill it. Once I refilled it with 5ml of fresh COLD juice, I just put it back on my "Slice" and vaped, I didn't push any buttons or reset my resistance. I noticed that the vape was a bit cooler than before I took the Lemo off, so, I went into the FSK menu and adjusted my FSK "UP" from 2.0% to 2.5% and tried it, Perfect !! That"s all I did. That's with a NiCr 6/5 wrap, spaced, 28g coil @ 1.10Ω, with KGD wicking, and I am still in Temp Control with NiCr. This is easier than I thought it would be, OR, I'm just having a Good Day. ;) I hope that this helps someone that might be having problems with their NiCr builds on the "Slice". It's not really that hard to get vaping good, or awesomely.

Thats the part you haven't understood about the numbers. They will change every time you remove the tank to fill it, therefore, they are somewhat meaningless. You also will find good top filling RTA is best employed on the FSKs so you don't have to adjust after every fill.

I have heard others say you can lock resistance and eliminate that drift. That was not my experience. Went top fill on all of mine to eliminate that.

After watching Ben's video, I expected to have to adjust my FSK after I took the tank off to fill, so that's a non-issue for me, plus, I like to dink around with it to dial it in better if I can. I did try the resistance lock and didn't like it too much either, like you. I've only got my Lemo's and Aromamizers for DL, all the rest are MTL RTA's which are my preference. I'm using my Lemo first so I can get used to this new Technology before I try any MTL tank on my Slice, less initial headaches I figure. I just hope that when I decide to try a MTL RTA, like my Fev3 or Fev4, I can get it going good, like my Lemo is, but that will be down the road a while.

My previous post (#585) is a possible starting point for someone using NiCr 28g in the Watts/Temp range I have listed in post #581. That possible starting point FSK %# was good for me at the time I applied it and will prolly change when I unscrew/re-fill my Lemo, it's meant to be just a starting guide FSK %#, but better than starting at 50%, the manual gives little direction on ball park possible starting points for anything, except the 50% FSK default, and that might be a little too hot for most folks running NiCr, I think. I saw that graph in the instruction manual and was not too impressed with it, a bit vague. mjag and Nailz gave me hard numbers for possible starting points, and that helped me more than that graph did. Even in the videos, Ben doesn't explain things as real clear and precise as he could, I think. What he does explain is tanks/ready made packaged coils, but not roll your own coils/rebuildables. It's like "Here's a totally New Technology, pay $139 then go figure it out", ask Busardo. Really ?? I think that that is the reason that HohmTech did not rocket to the top immediately, as it should have. This is a seriously wicked chip (the FSK) and should be dominating the market, instead, folks are going "Huh, how do you run this thing". Missed opportunity there. Not everyone that vapes gets on this forum, they have a life full of more important things to do, not enough time in the day, ya know. I just tried to help.

Most who have tried he FSK and didn't like it, probably never gave it a chance. As it is, I can call it controllable and consistent (until you change parameters by removing tank), but not truly accurate as it is up to the user to define its accuracy.

That is good enough for most, but to TC purists, it is not, and I cannot fault them for that. I like it. Most do. Many do not.

I agree Ben's instructional videos leave a lot to be desired.

Darn it !! The wife and me went over to my daughters/Son-in-laws house this evening for supper, I took my Slice/Lemo combo with me and carried it in my carpenters pants side leg pocket. Have done that a hundred times with the Lemo before and no problems, but not tonight. Was sitting for about 20-30 minutes and went outside for a vape, mind you it's 14° air temp and with the slight breeze it's down to about 3°, nice. When I pulled my Slice out of my pocket I noticed it to be a bit "slick", and I vaped several hits :vapor: and went back inside. I then looked down and saw juice All Over the place, even soaked thru my pocket . I know what happened, the Lemo was tilted just enough to loose vacuum while in my pocket sitting down and, Wa-La, a mess all over down the side of my day old Slice, and it was on the battery door side to boot. Took the Lemo off and the bottom 510/catch cup was FULL of juice. I set the Lemo aside and went to my New Slice and took the battery door off and the battery out and gave it a real hard look see, it was dry and clean as a whistle inside, Whew . Cleaned everything up, put it all back together and didn't put it back into my pants pocket the rest of the night. Lose about 1/2 to 1 ml of juice and one would swear that he had lost a gallon . Never tilt you're Lemo on it's side if it's less than full, of course that goes for about any vacuum operated atty, and especially don't do this on top of a brand new mod !!

I tried my Fev3 on my other Slice last night and at first I thought, Cool, It works, but now I'm not so sure. In Watts mode it definitely works, 1.51Ω, 4.5v, 14w, with a 9/8, 3mm, NiCr, spaced coil, wicked w/Rayon, and I have a 1.5mm airhole installed for my MTL draw, so that's OK. Onto the xXx mode, and here is where things get a little fuzzy for me. Same Fev3 and build, same Slice (#2 in this case, cause #1 has my Lemo on it), it reads 4.2v, 430°F, 1.52Ω, xXx, 12w, FSK @ 2.0%, FW=1.2.3. All Readings on a cold build. I thought I had it ya know, everything seemed normal (from what I have been able to read in the different posts and by watching Ben's videos), but I got to thinking that with such limited airflow, how is this REALLY working. I went back to the FSK and re-set it back to 00%, instead of 2.0% (all other settings the same). I let it rest so it would get nice and cold again (like 20 min.), then hit the power button and didn't let off till the Slice timed out (without taking a draw, so NO airflow), and it fired continuously the whole time. Isn't it supposed to fire then fizzle out and stop for lack of airflow ?? I also tried the same test in NiCr mode, same settings and FSK at 00%, same results. Am I missing something, or over thinking things again ? My Lemo works Great on my other Slice, and I even tried this same test on that Slice (#1) with the Fev3 and same results. What am I missing ??

Try some different kanthal, there's so many different variations of it, but according to my freind, temco kanthal-D works fine at 50%

A1 has a flatter curve, D is more sloped. that's the one you probably want to use w/ this thing.

Glad you got it figured out, what was the solution?

The one thing I don't understand is why 50% is the default FSK when in the Kanthal preset but 3.2% when in xXx mode. Maybe there is a good reason for it but I haven't figured out why that would be the case. Just makes it more difficult, you always have to specify which mode your in when specifying a FSK %.

Darned if I know mjag, I just kept messing around with it and it finally worked. ?? Dunno, maybe wicking, something simple, though I did turn it Off and On several times. I think that this is like a mini computer with the way it seems to "Boot Up" when you turn it on, ya know, and it was my #2 Slice, the one that hadn't been used yet.

Yeah, that 50% and 3.2% for FSK is puzzling for me also, but will prolly never find out why they set it up that way as documentation just barely passes muster as it is. HohmTech needs 1 more person in their organization, one that can do a complete breakdown from start to finish (Turning it On to Turning it Off) in each mode telling a customer just how to operate this New and Revolutionary FSK chip, all the button presses, different screens, trouble shooting, everything ya know. I don't need to know about the EPT and such (that could be covered in a PDF file with links), just how to work the D^%n thing so I can vape on it, NO Guessing or wondering !!

I have ran across a lot of Very smart people in my life that can't explain how to do something. Most engineers make very bad teachers, in my experience that is (and I know that Ben is NOT an engineer), but we shouldn't have to guess as to how to get this thing up and running.

I do have my Fev3 working with my 1.5mm air hole insert installed just as good as my Lemo with the airflow set to wide open in xXx mode and NiCr mode, which surprised me quite a bit, as Ben even said that a MTL setup would have a difficult time working, and I got the impression that it prolly wouldn't even work at all, except in Watts mode. Ok, enough of me, I'm starting to rant about this again, it's a real sore spot with me, given that the FSK chip is such of a Rock Star. Catch me later folks. I Love my HohmTech Hohm Slice and FSK chip more than any other mod/chipset I have.
