When did HohmTech get the Slice fixed as far as the Paint/Battery door problems that surfaced when it first came out for some people (I'm on page #18 ATM) ? I mean what production run, run #2 or #4 for ex. ?

The last 2 Slice I got when they went on sale have held up well but my Blue already has a tiny nick on the top edge and it hasn't even left the house. My battery doors are good except on the silver which has a little play and is not sitting flush on the top edge. Maybe the silver battery door will settle in after a while but it is not so bad and I am picky.

For the price of $30 I am really trying to nit pick, they are holding up finish wise about the same as my RX200 which I paid about $45 for. My black LE Slice I got when they first came out and paid $70 for will probably need a wrap here soon. I was actually thinking about taking it apart, stripping the paint and seeing if I can polish it up, I have a polish machine. It is zinc alloy though so not sure how that will come out, never polished that material.

The G2 is built like a tank, wish the Slice was built like it but if it was in Aluminum like the G2 then the price would be much more. For $70 I was not crazy about the build quality but for $30 I can live with the build quality to get the performance. I would not have bought more at the $70 price but for $30 each I would up buying 3 more as I think it is a steal.

Thanks mjag. I'm not expecting Rolls Royce quality at $30, or even $70, I have (2) Presa TC 100's (a Black and a Silver) that I paid about $35 for and are exceptable to me as is. I'm not a person that expects $200 quality in a $30 mod like some I have seen post, I'm pretty easy to get along with. I was just interested in what run # that they seemed to cure "Most" of the visual problems. Seems like I decided to get in the game at the right time, and I have been watching this company for several months now and checking the threads. I always buy late, never an "Early Adopter", I like to wait for products to have a maturing time before I "Get In". I'm on a fixed income so have to try to be smart with my Vape gear purchases, But Holy Smokes, this vaping is Sooo much more funner ;) than my Marlboro's ever were. (Can I say Funner) ?

If I like my Slice's I will prolly get (1) of each color, and a couple of G2's, as I have a couple of Sigelei 50w V2's and like them quite a bit as far as form factor goes, plus they serve me proud and give a good vape.

Thanks for the response mjag, it's appreciated. (I'm on page #20 reading up)

Smart way to buy, I use to do the same thing but the FDA and the new taxes coming to California in April have made me more anxious.

If you do wind up liking the Slice and G2 you might not want to hesitate, they may be on closeout and once there gone that could be it unless the regulations change. I can't see them doing another production run at the prices there currently selling them at, especially the G2 with it's CNC'ed Aluminum enclosure.

I agree with this, I can't imagine there will be more produced with the price they are selling at and the FDA crap.
If you want one, why wait? IMO, you should have at least 2 G2s. You may have to put them in a paper bag cause they're so homely, but man do they vape!

Lol, yeah, the G2 is a butter face, or maybe butter body is more appropriate but it puts out and leaves you wanting more.

Slice will serve you well provided you aren't looking to vape at huge wattages.

I'm not really a fan of the G2 form factor anyway for the $65 I paid for mine. If they had a RX2/Battlestar style case with series USB charging, I'd be all over it, but it just isn't portable or ergonomic in its current form.

I ended up ordering a couple of G2's and one for my mom. The only TC mods I've run were an IPV4 and an IPV4S (but I ran them in vv/vw as they don't do tc on ss), a couple of Cuboids (one crapped out, one crapping out) and a 2/3. Kinda got sick of Joye-based hardware's longevity and flaky TC on SS, especially with dual coil tanks. At 45USD shipped to Canada, I couldn't resist since that translates to 60 Canadian Pesos - typically a Cuboid or a 2/3 is about 90-100 Canadian Pesos plus 13% sales tax. Gonna test my G2's with 316L and see how the TC works on the STM (my on the go tanks), Bellus and Moonshot (both in dual coil configuration). Fingers crossed even though the G2 was hit with a forest of ugly sticks.

I usually use power mode with most of my other mods as well @52anddone . I like TC from time to time but generally for my style of vaping power mode was what I liked.

I normally have my FSK mods setup that if you didn't know it and took a vape you would think you are in power mode with preheat applied. In my car is usually when I ramp it down a little so I can see were I am going.

The fun part is finding what FSK % works for you. My settings might be completely different than yours and that is perfectly fine. It does take some trial and error at first but once you get the hang of it you will probably love it.

It can be fun finding the sweet spot for the fsk % but not if your tired or just need some nicotine and your getting dry hits. I am pretty sure this is just me and user error but was quite disappointed last night at some 316L coils in particular. Tasted metal like when I vaped. Maybe its the wire from FT or I didnt have the right FSK but when I tried 316L in the SS 316 mode on the G2 it was dry hitting horribly. The xxx mode was better.

The Nife52 had decent flavor actually but my cloud production was severely decreased each time I hit the tank. One issue or potential issue is Nife52 resistance changes ohms with temperature. So when cold my coils can be 0.14 ohm but when hot they go up as high as 0.25. I noticed in digital watts mode the ohms changes as the coil gets hot in xxx mode the resistance is locked in to where the coil is when its cold. Not sure if its making a difference but wanted to point that out.

I used 40% to 43% last night with the FSK for the Nife52. Also for the 316L used between 8.8% and 10.4%. My Fsk may be wrong for the 316L.

Kanthal works superbly well though so like I said the issues are most likely user error. Was curious about Auto+TC Enabled in xxx mode via the advanced insanity menu... could that help with preventing dry hits? Thanks mjag or anyone else for suggestions here...frustrating but I knew going in there was going to be a learning curve.

I just checked my inbox and have a email from the "Cube" notifying me that expected delivery is on Dec. 16 for my "Slice's". Good Deal !

As far as wattage goes, I either vape my Lemo at 20 watts or my Fev's at 14 watts (in Power mode), both with 28g NiCr or Twisted 30g Kanthal, and either Rayon or KGD, so from what I read, I think I'll be good. ?? I also like my Taifun GT-V2's, and ErlK's. I've been using Presa TC 75W and 100W mod's for Power and use "Basen 4500 mAh 26650's" and "25r's/VTC4's" and have multiples of each. I think I have everything covered for the arrival of my "Slice's". Also, use a Xtar VC2 to charge my batts, so no need for the 3a charge of the LE, so I bought the SE version.

You do indeed have it covered. Slice is supposed good for 101w, but I Don't push it past 80w even with the Bassen's I use just because. If I need to go higher, I'll pull out the G2.

I can deal with a "Butter Face", as long as it has "Long Beautiful Legs". ;)

That's why I am looking at the G2's. I might just want to go higher in the future and am not upset with the looks of the G2, hence, why I am looking at that one also (future proofing myself so to speak).

One question...... Since I have never used TC at all in any of my mod's, am I correct in assuming that 450° with a NiCr or Kanthal build on the Slice, would equate to my 240 Heat Flux build @ 18 watts I am using in my Lemo/Presa in Power mode that I like very much, or would I have to raise or lower the temp to equal that 240 Heat Flux build ? The build is NiCr 28g single wire and KGD, it's a warm draw, I don't like a Hot draw.

That I am not sure. Probably the best thing to try would be set your temp at 450f, put your watts in the 50 range. Put the mod in xXx mode and set fsk at 3.2% to start maybe even lower if you like a warm draw. I think 3.2% would be a good starting point and it is the default in xXx mode when you first power it on. From there you can do some fine tuning to the FSK % or temp till you get the vape your looking for.

I just got a hohm wrecker in dodger blue thanks for g2flashx1, but I think I received a dud.

It turns on fine with the menu button, but after that, the menu button becomes a second fire button! The only way to turn it off or access the menu is to lock the buttons first! LOL, Vaporcube isn't responding to my messages, wonder if I have to contact Hohm Tech directly.

Firmware update did not fix the issue. Puzzling.
