In the last video with Phil Busardo Ben mentioned they would have another in 30 to 60 days, that was what? two weeks ago?

I think it was about 2'ish weeks ago. Ben alluded to a much nicer form factor for the new model, which peaked my interest. The current box format is not horrible, but it's just so.....boxy. I could also live without the symbols around the edges but I have a feeling that those will carry over given how enthused Ben seems to be about them.

I like the box format although it is a bit oversized, only thing I don't like it's the 510.

It is not deep enough and is just overall a bad design. Only one of my atomizers is an issue but truthfully none should be with proper design. Also the spring is so weak that atomizers with floating center pins (almost all atomizers with replaceable coils) can have connectivity problems since the spring doesn't push the pin hard enough to make good contact with the bottom of the coil.

I think I will give this device one last go before I give it away, can anyone recommend a nice tank that has kanthal coil options that they know works well with kanthal temp control. I've tried tfv4, vengence, and the armor plus and the g2 just would not work with any of them in kanthal temp control. I could never get a good smooth consistent vape out of them. I also made one last attempt on a dual clapton build on the new aromamizer supreme which didn't work at all. From FSK value 5% all the way to 100% it wouldn't even get hot and would instantly drop output to 0 watts so the g2 seems it won't work on that tank at all. I'll just go simple with a tank that someone can confirm will work with kanthal temp control and be done with it. If then I can't get that to work into the trash this box goes. Maybe I've just spent enough time with the DNA mods and got use to the way those work. One more question I'd like to ask if anyone tried using this box with the uwell crown stainless? I heard that it is stainless with nickle legs, and when I set the g2 to ss mode I have to crank temp to about 600 degress to get at least a semi warm vape. On the Dna the temp setting is set at only 390 degrees and the vape is even warmer at that setting than the g2 at 600. I'm kind of starting to think this g2 isn't as accurate as claimed as quite a few people say its very rare that others vape at 600 degrees as it will be extremely hot. But anyway anyone have good suggestions as to a simple tank that works?

I had been trying to get to Hohm Techs site for the last few days and my antivirus kept telling me there was a Trojan. Today I finally got in without any virii. Although Google still says the site may be hacked.

New Software

FSK_G2_2.5.1

1. Terminology Update:
a. “Vape Porn Mode” updated to “Advanced TC Mode”
b. “XXX” updated to “xXx”
2. Algorithm #2 & #5 enhanced to further increase battery life (.3% gain)
3. Tungsten embedded in ceramic added to “Insane Temps Mode”

NOTE: Tungsten symbol is same as periodic table: “W”

** latest available manual available on product page

The updated manual is for 2.4.7 so no mention of the Tungsten function. I am vaping a Krixus on it using the new W mode. Seems to be ok though I haven't tested it with a thermocouple yet.

@johara45 I just haven't found one that works better than any other with Kanthal. Though singles are easier than multis they will all limit. But I don't find the G2 limiting to be repeatable with Kanthal. Though for a very stable TC atty it is hard to beat the Hurricane V2 or derivatives.

Thanks for the heads-up on the update, @350ZMO. HT mentioned it on their FB page that it was coming soon, but I had forgotten about it. Looking forward to trying out the Tungsten mode -- by happenstance I ordered some of the new Kanger tungsten+ceramic coils this morning. Should get here early next week.

Cool. Here is some info on ceramics if you are interested. If those Kangers are the Smowell NTBVC they may not be Tungsten as I know them they are porous wound wire, let me know please. I was looking for inexpensive vertical tube nonporous ceramic heating elements to continue some testing and found some on alibaba from Modvapa for $2.50 which was the best I have been able to find so I ordered 10 from them and it was kind of funny they said they were for their Panda tank which I had never heard of so I said no problem just need the cartridges then they said they would include a Panda for free and sure enough it arrived today. I have to update that page and am working on a video and a post on the Panda. Very impressed with it. Surprised it isn't on the radar and isn't carried by more vendors. Kind of a mix between a Krixus and a Bachelor, stock cartridges take around 40W @360F with 100VG. Easiest rewick yet with my own OC and wow 80W just like the Krixus. Working good on the G2 also.

hohmtech.com still is being reported as "possibly hacked" by Google and I can't seem to be able to connect to it from Europe in any way (tried 4 different browsers, even tried through a VPN that should give me a US IP address). Every time I get a "cannot connect" kind of error...
I could only download the 2.4.7 FW 3 weeks ago while I was in the U.S., and would really like to update to 2.5.1 now that it is available, any chance someone could post this 2.5.1 somewhere?

Thanks.

@350ZMO – The ones I bought are from Kanger rather than Smowell. On their initial announcement Kanger posted info that they were tungsten/ceramic, but photos of the release version look different than the announced version. So, won’t know what to expect until I actually have them in hand.

@ndb70 – if you PM me an email address I would be happy to email the update file to you.

File was sent -- hope it gets there OK!
Got it!
Thank you so much.

Hope the hohmtech guys will solve their website problems, although considering this is going on at least since one month, I doubt they even know they have a problem...
By the way, is here anybody from the other side of the pond (EU) that is able to access their site for manuals, firmware etc??

I finally got around to thermocouple testing with the G2. The W mode is running my ceramics hot wrt setting (550F measured versus 400F set temp) but I find running in xXx mode with 35% to be close (392F versus 400F set temp). So I want to talk about this chart shown in the G2 manual:
xxx.jpg

Notice how it correlates with TCR
AL - .004, Cr - .003, Co - .006, Cu - .004, Ni - .006, Ti - .0035, Zn - .004
The Iron blue line is barely a tick but the orange line is all the way up to 60%. I think the blue line is an error. The TCR of Fe is .006.

The text in the manual talks about "temp curve valuation".

Also notice the Kanthal line, that suggests a setting of <5% which is a long ways off from the default 50% in the manual and used in HTs videos.

Here are my TCR test results for the Modvapa Ceramics:
curve.jpg

Here is the element:
leads.jpg

Ness shows the TCR for Tungsten at .0045.

Incidentally Guo recommends .0035 for the Altus.

And there is no FSK Curve adjustment in W mode. If I reverse calculate TCR using the resistance change from a TCR of .033 to 550F and an expected temperature difference from ambient to 400F it appears the G2 in W mode is expecting a TCR around .0048.

In other words they have it too high. Use xXx mode instead with 35%.
