Depends on the device but I get your meaning :)

The size and shape is a bonus to me, I already have two tiny single 18650 devices though.

Yeah, that makes sense. Right now, I just have a RX200 and a Pico, so figure my next mod should be a nice dual 18650 one. Most of the ones currently on the market for <$150 don't interest me, so I figure I'll wait.

@KenD

Your first post "Two 18650s will be able to handle more current" is what I was referring to.

Two 20A CDR batteries in parallel would deliver 40A CDR where as in series only 20A CDR.

While your examples are correct I disagree with "Parallel or series doesn't matter in a regulated setup". There is more to the story and more examples.

Example 1: two cells in series: 7.4V supply drawing 10A - delivered to atty: 7.4V at .1ohm and 10A is 74W

Example 2: one cell 3.7V supply drawing 20A to Boost to 7.4V - delivered to atty: 7.4V at .1ohm and 10A is 74W

With example 2 the run time is halved assuming same maH ratings, but 26650s have more capacity which is a reason to go with 26650 versus 18650 for a single cell mod with boost ie Slice.

Also Example 1 can use two 10A CDR batteries. Example two would need a single 20A CDR battery.

Example 3 (0.1ohm atty): At 101W, the current would be 31.76A, and 3.18V at atty. There are no 31.76A CDR 18650s or 26650s so in dual series mods like the G2, it can't get 101W CDR @0.1ohm.

Example 4 (0.1ohm atty): However, there are plenty of 18650s and 26650s that will supply more than half 31.76A CDR or 15.88A, as in two 20A CDR in parallel. So a dual 20A CDR parallel mod with buck down from 3.7V to 3.18V can get to 101W CDR.

Yes I too am ignoring inefficiencies and also pulse, only talking CDR.

And yes I have made a quad .4ohm parallel build that yields .1ohm total and vaped it at 100W.

The point is, both example 3 and 4 are regulated mods, the mod with two in series cannot get there even with adding more batteries but a mod with two batteries in parallel can.

There are other examples at high resistances where more source voltage ie series, and/or with boost where they can get there but parallel cannot.

But these alone clearly prove series versus parallel does matter.

HTH

You're wrong though. First off, resistance doesn't factor into the amp draw on a regulated device so you don't need to include that in your calculations at all. 74w (assuming 90% device efficiency) will draw from 19.4 amps (fully charged battery/batteries) to 25.45 amps (batteries discharged to 3.2v per battery), whatever the resistance is. So your calculations in examples 1 and 2 are off. If you don't trust my calculations, check steam-engine. Most multiple-battery regulated mods today are series setups. If your assumptions were correct (which they aren't), how could those mods ever provide 150, 200, or 250w?

What are you looking for in a device?

Basically, I'm looking for the same or better performance than the RX200 chip, but ~150W, TC for all the usual suspects, and 3+ TCR settings. A similarly simple and quick to navigate menu system would be a plus. These reasons, (plus its tinyness), are why I like the Pico so much. I want a dual 18650 version, with a flat top. :D

ETA: I've seen the iStick 100W TC mod. I don't particularly like the design. A second battery door held on with magnets introduces another potential point of failure, I don't like the separate menu button, and the fire button is gimmicky.

The iStick 100 tc is great though. The fire button is actually fantastic, by far my favourite of all the mods I own. There's no escaping the fact that the mode button sucks big time though. You might want to consider the Cuboid (I wouldn't try 200w with two batteries though). Same great performance as the rx200 and same great screen as the VTC mini.

Sorry for talking about other devices in this thread.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm looking at the HCigar VT133 now. It seems like it would offer similar performance to the SXMini Q, but for ~$60 less.

ETA: the VT133's only ~$102 shipped from eciggity using coupon code: spring30. The only thing that gives me pause are some "questionable" details of the build. Still, at this price, you're basically getting a DNA200 with a mod built around it for an extra ~$20.

I also found the IPV5, and the construction looks superior. The Yihi SX330-200 chip also looks pretty damn precise. I'm pretty surprised that they're only ~$50, (~$39 with that coupon code).

Decisions, decisions....

Get your credit cards ready, Hohm Wrecker G2's for $55 (refurbished) and $65 to $70 (New) at vaporcube, here is the link:

VaporCube 4th July 2016 Sale

As far as the refurbs here is the response I got from vaporcube and Hohm Tech:

The refurbished units are going to be the most pristine returns we have received. large scratches/dents should not be present.

Great sale with all the colors so act quick, I got myself a Bronzed Red to go with my Silver.....sexy :D

Been thinking of picking up one, but the hundred plus price tag was a big turn off, probably lowered the price with all this .... going on with the FDA, or their planning on coming with a new 100 plus watt mod.

They did come out with a 101 watt mod :p The Hohm Slice which I picked up and love, it is a 26650 mod though. Unfortunately there is no sale on the Slice but you can get the SE edition for $60 and the LE edition which adds 3 amp internal charging and some fancier graphics on the mod for $10 more.

Sounds like a refurb would be the way to go.
I heard of button and screen issues, and since these went back, should have been hand-fitted in the US.
May have to look into one of these.

I picked up a blue refurb G2 yesterday to keep my orange G2 company. Hoping there's not much (or any) cosmetic damage but even if there is, for the sale price it was a no-brainer given how well my current G2 has been performing. I'll post once I get it with details as to its condition.

Do not recommend the Slice. Very poor build quality. Buy the Wrecker until Hohm tech fixes their quality issues with a v2 of the Slice. Separate thread on that one.

Got my Dodger Blue G2 refurb today. Absolutely pristine condition -- not a single scratch, ding or dent on the case (and I looked very closely). Only been using it for about an hour, but so far zero problems with functionality.

Really fighting the urge to get another one. I have two G2's (orange and blue) and one Slice (blue). Someone please talk me out of getting a third G2!

I am fighting the urge to order the Blue one, already have the Red and black arriving today. I have a Silver one as well but that one my friend is buying off of me, after he got his Slice he is jonesing for a G2.

Please don't post pics of your Blue G2, that might just put me over the edge.........noooooooo

Sorry! The pic does not do the blue justice -- it's a very rich hue. It would look great right next to your red and black G2's!
