Blue foam from the pet store? Ok, someone school the noobie I have no idea what thats for!

A "Rite-Size U" aquarium filter cut into pieces to replace the stuff inside cartridges. It was a huge hit when I started vaping, but now it seems that people move on to cartomizers or dripping a lot sooner.

To me there are four stages of vaping:

1. What is this, could this possibly work for me?
2. I can't believe this is working for me.
3. What if I run out or can't get...
4. I want(and usually not need)....

You my friend are at stage 3 and lucky for you have reached it before you ran out of something critical ! As I am sure, any vapeing veteran on the forum will suggest back-ups to your back-ups is a must.
I was lucky and bought a big batt PV from the get go so I am sticking with it. I see many people spend big bucks always trying out the latest and greatest and that will get pricey. After the health benefit my goal was to save money. I've been vapeing for 6months now and in 8 days I will finally start to save $$. What killed me dollar wise was all the DIY supplies. Should vapeageddon occur I'll be o.k for 2 years! I sleep better now...............

I go around loaded for bear. When I leave the house, this is what I carry (and I only use manual batteries because they are less likely to be damaged by juice:

1 complete KR808D-1 manual (KR808D-1 is like what you have)
1 complete 510 manual w Boge carto
NoSmokeVA.com 510 PCC filled with 1 charged 510 battery in the charging slot, 1 charged KR808D-1 battery in the extra slot, a 6 filled cartomizers (some 510, some KR808D-1) (it cannot charge KR808D-1)
A charged 750mah Riva 510 battery in a cloth-covered Chinese lipstick case (wrapped around middle to keep the button clear of the inner sides of the case)
3 4-6ml bottles of juice and a couple of 3ml bottles

I fit all of the above in a small flat woven cross-body purse (cross-body so I can't accidentally leave it at a restaurant!).

Then at home and at work I have Rosewill RUC6181 2amp 4port USB to AC adapters (from NewEgg.com) filled with charger cables for all of my battery types. At home I also have a PCC charger and a couple of additional chargers so i can charge 2 of each battery type at once overnight

At home and at work I have PT's for emergencies.

And at home I have a 3.7v box mod which is my backup for my Riva

-----------------
One thing you could get is a Riva 901 from Liberty-Flights.com (only from there because they have the model with the slotted head that should provide enough airflow to more KR808D-1 cartos, and press the 20% off first). Or a Riva 510 and try filling your own Boge cartos - more stuff is available for 510 (much more than for 901). Or instead, a 3.7v box mod - plus batteries and charger - they usually have an on-off switch so they are good for carrying in a pocket etc. You could stick a 510 to 808 adapter on it for your cartos.

A third battery, and spare charger (not necessarily the wall wart PS, as long as you have a PC), are great to have.
As others mentioned, a standard passthrough, with a 2A USB wall power supply and/or 2A car cig lighter adapter, is also excellent.
If you are content with 808 equipment and cartomizers, there really is no particular need to go to 510 equipment. I used 808 for half a year, a Riva 510 with my 808 stuff as backup for several months, have been using a mod the last five months (with an 808 battery/charger backup). I've never been an atomizer person, just not for me.
That said, a Riva 510 Lite kit, two batteries/charger/couple atomizers/carts runs just over $30, is an entirely viable alternative. In my case I used boge 2 ohm 510 connector cartomizers with the Riva -- decent warmth/power.
I'll credit the Riva 510 with good run time and low price point. On the downside, on the Riva batteries it got to be a real PITA for me to have to keep prying up the center conductor (some cartos would push it down slightly, and you had to pry it up to get good charger contact or when using another carto). I never had that problem with 808 batteries, or with my mod.
Whatever way you choose to go, just make sure you have some kind of backup.

Yep, it seems that my first step is a simple backup for what I have then start looking for a big battery option. I've looked at the igo and pigcig they appeal to me so I can interchange everything but those box mods just look like an elegant solution. However the various battery options and electrical lingo I don't understand make me a little wary to jump into the pool!

Thank you all so much for the input you don't know how much it helps. This can be a bit overwhelming for the non tecno savy. If I can't bandage it or start an IV in it I'm a little lost!

I agree - first step for any ecig you like is spare battery, extra charging cables, extra supplies. Then a PT (which I only have in case of emergencies since I do not let myself vape constantly nor want to tempt that)

BTW if you end up interested in a box mod, the ECF classifieds and I think there is some Mod suppliers forum (?) are great places to find some. My 3.7v box mod uses 1 battery. I bought 2 batteries and a 2-battery charger. When the battery in it is running down, I put in the fresh battery and charge the used one then when the used one is charged I take it off the charger and set it aside until I need it.

And re Riva - no problem with the center post here - I use Boge cartos and never screw it further than necessary onto the charger - only far enough to get steady red that is is charging. Excellent deal for the Riva 510 Lite Bundle at Liberty-Flights - you click the 20% off upper left front page on Liberty-Flights.com (make sure you have the US site if you are in the US) then look at Riva 510 and the Lite Bundle is under $30 for 2 complete 750mah Rivas.

@Outre, @Xaria, Solar charger on Amazon: Amazon.com: Premium Solar Charger - Ultra Thin Solar Powered Backup Battery and Charger for Cell Phones, iPhone, iPod, and Most USB Powered Device - Also Includes Built-in LED Reading Light and Window / Windshield Suction Cups: Electronics
I was able to charge 2 xl auto 808's, 1 standard 808, and put a 2/3 charge on my cell phone before this thing was drained. All 4 devices were drained when I put them on to charge.
For the OP--V4L has sales quite often, and their (808) diamond XL's are great batteries. If you go to their website and sign up for their emails, you won't even have to search around for a discount code.

You can never be too thin or too rich. Neither can you ever have enough batteries and chargers. I started vaping in late February / early March. Here's my stash of electricity-makers, all for 510 connectors:

21 900 mAh or 1100 mAh batteries
4 USB chargers, 2 with wall socket adapters
1 900 mAh battery with USB passthrough
2 18650 1600 mAh batteries for my Reo Grande (and I'll be getting some more shortly)
1 TrustFire wall charger for the 18650's

This inventory doesn't include all the "disposable" starter-type kits I give out to friends and acquaintances who want to test-drive vaping. And, of course, it doesn't include all the atomizers, carts, cartos, tanks and other assorted hardware.

I decided to tempt fate a week or so into vaping. I lit a cigarette. I wanted to know if vaping truly conquered the beast. Like others here, the experience was a vile and disgusting taste. THAT's when I got scared. If I couldn't smoke, what in the world would I do if my ecigs. batts or charger failed? Holy $&!, did I have enough supplies and back ups? The buying rampage began.

I have a large surge protector with 14 plugs sitting on my vaping table in my home office. Two spots ae available. I flip off the power on the surge protector when I leave the house. Significant anxiety and stress set in when I realized that I am a vaper and no longer a smoker. Stocking up on everything relieved the worry and happy vaping ensued. :)

I'm right there on the OMG I'm vape dependent! as cash flow allows I'll be joining the ranks of those stocked up for the zombie apocalypse ! I'll be shooting for roughly equal amounts of ammo for my guns and ecigs. I have a picture in my head of myself in a mad max pose with dual bandoliers of cartomisers across my chest!

Whatever you decide on for gear, you always need to follow the prime directive of vaping: Backups, Backups, and more Backups.

Note this also applies to all those important files on your computer.

I only use mods after a bad experience with a gas station ecig, things only run for a few hours, then take 4 hrs to charge.... some I have purchased, some built by me... 14500's and 18650's are the battery of choice.. (although I have some 16340's as well) I have two chargers, one at home, one in the vehicle with a 12v adapter.. Have several battery cases that fit in a pocket on my work pants, and a 6 slot case logic usb memory card holder with atties, cartos, and 4 different 5 mil bottles of juice inside that tags along everywhere I go...... always pays to be prepared.......
