I lied, insert step 5.5, I did admire Zen~'s handiwork with the coil again before replacing the cap...

FWIW, here's what I did to prep mine when it arrived this morning.

1 - Removed top cap
2 - Admired Zen~'s coil wrapping (A thing of beauty)
2 - Filled tank to 3/4 full (with Pluid, obviously)
3 - Removed the switch
4 - Inserted battery
5 - Replaced switch
6 - Replaced top cap
7 - Inserted drip tip
8 - Just vaped it....

Obviously it still needs some break in, but great flavor / vapor by the 5th puff....
Going on about 2 hours now, and no missfires, no dry hits, etc.. I did crimp the wick top just a bit to stop a tad of leaking. So far, perfection...

Morning all! Afternoon actually.
I have a question I figured you all might be able to help with. I am using the only Genesis style atty I have ever tried and am noticing when I vape it it feels very harsh in my lungs and I am not getting a ton of vapor. My husband says he is getting the same burning feeling in his lungs upon inhale. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced that, It almost feels like it's because I am taking a huge hit but I'm not and not a lot of vapor coming out either. Is it possible that the air hole is too small. i don't want to make the air hole bigger only to find out that isn't the issue and I am stuck with the larger air hole. What do you guys think? I will be so happy when I get my Zenesis and I know everything is just right.

I think it would be helpful to know the model. Is this the def-con?

strange part is that it is not continuous, one moment is works perfect just after thorough cleaning and the next moment it is not working. I would agree that if after a few days it becomes dirty that you have to clean again, this sounds a lot different.

Yeah, if it's a design flaw, but most people don't have a continuous problem with their switches like spw is having. Right? My three switches were working fine before I NO-OX-ID-ed them, and they just worked even better after I did use it. I'm pretty sure most mechanical switches need to be periodically cleaned and treated with NO-OX-ID or Noalox. I had to do the same with my three Reo mods...as recommended by Rob, the guy who makes them. It just makes them fire BETTER.

So, I wouldn't think it's a design flaw. Something else must be going on. Zen~ would probably be the go to guy for that. He shouldn't still be having issues with his switch.

First, make sure that there aren't any shorts to the coil, a short will give you a very harsh and metallic type vape. All coils should glow evenly when the wick is dry, if they aren't, use a toothpick, pin, or anything with a pointed tip to adjust the coils t'ill they glow evenly. Second, check to see if the air intake hole is line up with the wick, this will give you the smoothest vape, and more vapor production. If everything looks good, i suggest you just vape it, the wick might just need to be broken in.

Agree! Mike is the one that should be able to answer. It cannot be ignored or thrown on user error. I have seen that before, the maker would come out with a "better" version, an upgrade and just forgot about the people that spend there good earned money on something that should work as it was intended to be. I have higher hopes here and I am convinced those people with issues will be treated correctly! I just hope it will be addressed and solved prior to having new models and colors coming out....

PS: It is also a fact that not everybody will throw it out on the forum, they will rather stay quit to not be marked as foolish or stupid...I have seen that also many times.....

True and I hope you don't think I was trying to make anyone look stupid for asking for help! That is never my intention here. I'm new to the rebuildable atty too. I just throw out what MY experiences are and what I have done to make something better with the hopes that it helps others.

IF there is a design flaw, Mike will do the right thing.

Ob, yes, again let's see but if using this lube is the (only) permanent fix, than it should be part of the package and clearly stated how to apply and maintain when the APV is purchased. Concerning how many have this issue, I can only say that as there are not too many units out there being sold and used yet I have seen already in a short time a few who have these issues, that it is not considered a single issue.

The only thing I've ever lubed on my mini is the threads and that's not from a firing issue, it is to keep my threads from seizing.

I'm one of the Febbie Zenfidels and the biggest learning curve for me was HOW to fire my Zenesis. I was needing to fire ti the same way I did my other mods, press the button straight in with the index finger or thumb. I have severe carpal tunnel and tendonitis in my hands, pressing hard with my pinky was like being struck by lightening in my hand because I was trying to use only it and pressing straight up.

Once I read and figured out that the best way to get your Zenesis to fire correctly everytime was to hold it in your fist while letting the Zenesis rest on the inside of your curled up pinky and squeezing your fist tight, misfires were a thing of the past. (And alot better for my poor hands)

That method of holding and firing ensure that the button is moving as intended to work your Zenesis, not just pushing up but rocking it to the side.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm convinced that the issues that most have is either battery terminals need to be cleaned too, there's a short in the coil or wick is touching base or post, or the way the button is being pressed to fire the Zenesis. There's really nothing else to cause it.

I never came to me to think you would do that my dear! I was referring to people not going public, just give up or wait until somebody starts the discussion....guess it is me

This morning after I saw Vapor2112 was expecting his Zenesis to arrive today I checked the tracking on the wife's mini, as expected it was 50 miles away at the USPS processing center. So I went outside to weedeat/edge which ever you prefer to call it, on the way to my shop to get the weedeater I noticed the mail "person" placing a big white envelope in my mail box. Getting excited I shut the door to my shop and headed to the mailbox and pulled the envelopes from there resting spot, opened the envelope and there were the 2 tanks I ordered for my Standard and the wife's mini. Thanks for reading my story for the day.

PS: The other envelope incase you didn't notice the "S" at the end in the above story contained my wife's mini and its beautiful, needless to say the weedeating can wait (she is at work atm lol).

Tammy,

yes, very good point, but then people need to be clearly instructed by Mike, a video which will make it clear to all, if that is the issue here. But what if that method is being applied, works one moment and the next it is not? clearly this could not be user error anymore at that point. Also the wick shorts, wick touching the base does not suddenly happen, it is correctly installed or it is not, it does not change every minute and or cleaning battery terminals don't apply then either.

The only thing I've ever lubed on my mini is the threads and that's not from a firing issue, it is to keep my threads from seizing.

Sounds like you either have a short, need more coils to cool it down, or you're getting dry hits due to insufficient wicking.

Thank you for pointing that out, but this is not Mike's idea, a workaround not approved by him and is not the way people get there units installed with. We are not modders, we are users that want to vape. You said it: YOU had also firing issues with the stock setup.....(and a lot of others) I receive PM's from people that don't want to go public asking for help....So Let's put it public, to all users, to be owners and most important to Mike so he can educate us all, once and forever!

I know Zen is against this.. So sorry zen.
But I did this to all 3 of my zens, as have alot of people.
It made a great improvement on my firing issues.

Heya Zenfidels!
There is a benefit on June 23rd for a community member battling cancer that includes a raffle and an auction. It's times like these that I wish I had more to give- but at least my fingers work, so here's the link -http://helptwygg.com ...it's a great cause, and there are some one of a kind items up for auction and raffle. Hope to see you there.

**Hoping I'm not out of line by posting this here. Delete it if so.
