'K, so...
I've been
vaping the *ASH* since yesterday - it's practically been grafted to my hand all this time.
Finally I decided that the carmelization of my over-sugared juice was making too much of a nasty taste, and bit the bullet. I decided to "fiddle".
I first punched the blunt needle through the burrs in the fill hole to get it into the tank, then sucked up the remaining (second tank) of juice I was vaping. Then I pulled off the tank and did a quick "Murdock Wash" to flush out the crud from the burning juice.
That's when I noticed that the wick had apparently drifted during shipping and was touching the bottom of the tank. Bumped it up - ever so gently, so as to not disturb the "Zen~ Coil", so it's now floating about .5mm over the SS floor of the tank. Dry-burned a bit to flash off the water, then re-assembled and re-filled the tank.
Lo And Behold... I no longer have to grind the crap outta the switch to get a strong enough connection to get a full hit!!! Apparently, "minor shorts" DO count!

Vaping away in a state of over-nic'd bliss now (and yes, I just ordered a new set of 18 mics per mil juice, down from my usual 36...) with no finger cramps!
