Thanks again guys! I did a little poking and prodding and now the little bit of kanthal is no longer glowing. It has improved my vape even more than what it was before. It is keeping the flavor constant even at the end of my vape, which I was only slightly getting anyway. I take a long straight inhale and at the end of that I exhale through the nose while taking one more mouthful then exhale that. I was starting to lose flavor at the end of that last mouthful, not any longer.

welcome Mike. There is a whole social forum. Look at the pics and vids thread for a coil basics written by Zen. There is also a f.a.q thread. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/groups/zenation-home-zenfidels.html

TY tybin - I'll try to catch up on reading before asking questions that have likely been answered time and again. I've been using GTUS and rebuilding Viva Nova's w/ hybrid SS/bamboo, so I've got some basics covered, but I'm sure each atty has it's own tweaks and quirks to learn.

A couple of days ago, someone was having flavor issues that we never got sorted out.

Lack of flavor is usually caused by two things.

You need to take long, slow drags. Short hard drags will not work well on the Zens because you really need time for the airflow to work as designed. Long hard draws will result in little or no flavor.

Also, flooding will result in poor flavor. You need to vape at 3 o'clock until the wick is broken in. After that, vape at 4 or 5 o'clock. Vaping at too high an angle after the break in period will result in flooding. Over wicking gives poor flavor.

You might also want to put a small pinch in the top of the wick which will cause the ejuice to be in contact with the coils for a longer period which will result in better vaporizing of the juice and less condensation in the top cap which can also cause flooding.

Continuing to draw for a second or two after letting go of the switch will help prevent condensation forming in the top cap, which in turn will cause darkening of your juice in the tank as it runs back down. This is just carmelization of the sugars in your ejuice and is not harmful and generally not noticeable in the taste. However, it may not be esthetically pleasing to the eye.......LOL

When there is a definite date for Vapebash will you all let me know? I have to give 90 days notice to take time off :(
That's not too bad, I have to request leave 5 weeks in advance. Except in March we have to put our requests in for "prime time" (mid May to mid Oct). I'm always stuck with having to commit to friends planning over the winter before I can get definite dates, or having to decline for too little notice. :( Oh, and I'm lowest in seniority, so last to choose dates during prime time, I'll never get a week with a holiday in it. :glare:

She'll be back; taking care of home and personal stuff at the moment.
Yup, I ignored y'all and sent her an email. Sounds like all is well, just life getting in the way.

Hey Zenfidels,

My ZAP finally arrived today (yay vapemail.) I've followed the directions on house of hybrids and.. may... have a problem? I was able to get the coil firing evenly before adding juice. Once I added juice, tipped the device/wet the wick, and fired again... my top three coils will turn orange fairly quickly, and almost immediately afterwards the top part of the wick starts to glow. The bottom coils don't. I've tried brushing the coils. I've been poking at them for about 15 minutes and it's still behaving much the same way.

Coil reads out at 2.5ohm. Currently firing at 3.7V.

I've tried vaping it and it seems to perform roughly the same as other SS-mesh wick devices I've used. DEFINITELY felt a MUCH harder nicotine hit. Taste is ok, on par with other SS-mesh wick devices.

Any suggestions?

hi guys, just got my zap today.. coils r firing nicely. but i have a question.. since its on the provari, what voltage do i need, coil reads at 1.8ohm,.,,??

Whatever voltage tastes the best. Start at 3.5ish and turn it up until it tastes good. If it tastes like burning juice, turn it down a bit until it tastes good. Forget about ohms and volts and just vape it!!
