Okay, I know that's the hard part, that's what bothers me a little bit (I mean just a tiny bit). After you wrap the paper clip (how many times? video doesn't say), how do you keep the mesh from unfolding from the paper clip at either end? I know you use forceps to hold the darn thing thru torching it, but how the *H* do you keep the mesh from unwinding? I know, I feel like a kindergartener!!

Once its rolled up,it stays rolled up on its own,maybe not quite as tightly,but still rolled up

Yea it wont un-wind, the even tho is mesh its still stainless and once you bend/fold it it wont unroll, as far as how many times to wrap around the papee clip, it just all depends on how thick you want your wick I usually start off with mesh thats 30mm long and that seems perfect for the Zen with the insulator

Grammie, you start in advance with a predetermined size of mesh. you fold one end so that you don't have any frayed edges that can short. when you wrap it, you just wrap until the whole thing has turned into the wick. It presses itself into the wick.

I've found that when I wrap, the folded end is prone to shorts. That's just me though.

Also as far as the insulator goes i guess its personal preferance if you want to use it. As long as you wick is oxidized good oot wont short, however the insulator is a little more forgivng to noobs lol jk!

I am soooo disorganized...LOL. Cleaned all the Zens and can't get the top cap on the AYS. I still need to wash clothes...LOL.

I did find a nice dog sitter and he will even be working just across the street!! I can't believe I'm going.

You should ALWAYS use the insulator, per Zen's instructions. He doesn't think there are any good exceptions to this rule. I have always used the insulator.

The ones I roll have three times as much mesh as the included ones, and have a very small center hole. It will even fit with the included insulator. I find that the tighter it is, it will decrease juice drain back into the tank.

Couple questions, please. What size (width) is the mesh for the HoH pre-rolled wicks? What size is the mesh you start w/ for the 'tight' fit w/ insulator. TIA

The only exception to this rule is the BAM because the wick hole has been anodized on the BAM. As far as I know, that's the only APV with an anodized wick hole.........You can use fatter wicks on the BAM because of this........

Don't know exactly as I've never unrolled one of the premades. When skinny wicks were in vogue, people were starting with 15mmx50mm.
