......I use the fire proof fabric that is wrapped around the coils of a dual coil carto
yea I forgot who originally posted about it, and I've mentioned it a couple of times for those that had the insulators melt on them too.....the coil insulator tube from a carto works wonders as a replacement, and it would work well for your application too

Absolutely dude. It won't burn or melt. I tested that material with a torch, and was quite pleased with the results.

I can't say that one is better than the other, just different material.
The one from a carto, reminds me of canvas. It isn't, just the look makes me think of canvas.
Since it's more like a "material" or "fabric" it has more give and you can do a larger wick.
Either will work for insulating.
No videos that I've seen..... however, I just use one of those long dental picks with the metal end you can get at most drug stores.
Rip everything out of the carto and cut/unroll everything until I get down to the wire inside. You're after the inner most piece around the wires.

I hope everyone makes it to Chicago. That is the one I really want to go to. Shai, your juice needs to be mailed at post office, so it might be a couple days until i send it but will let you know. I need to send a drip tip for repair so might be sooner rather than later (hopefully).
Oh and I have only used Zen's wicks. Getting a couple more devices as soon as he can send em and will have more wicks. I went through a few when I was new to the zenesis experience. To think I was thinking of parting with my mini. Now I have a tini, mini and couple atty's. I am only buying Zen for the most part from here on out.

I believe it was Katz who first posted it in this thread.
She had torched it also, and found it didn't burn or melt.
I've been using them since in devices that don't come with insulators, and if I happen to be out of the ones Zen supplies.
I tried the woven material around the wires, and was just not sngu enough for me, but will still accommodate a larger wick than the stock insulator will allow.

Which will be very disappointing.
But... we have to get through the Christmas season, and a few business things we need to do.
Plus, plan for any vacation we may take, and I'm still keeping Zenapolooza on the front burner.
I would rather go to that as it would be much closer to me.
I still need to win the lottery so I can make it to all these get togethers.
it was a loooooong time before that, It may have been lorderos or ninfreak...it was around the time everyone was still waiting for their march mini's n such back in the spring....

I melted my first insulator maybe two weeks after getting my ZAU. I had to quickly find a replacement, as the pen tube's ID was smaller than the stock one.
What the best carto to get? how long will the insulator last versus ZEN~s? I don't get any burning plastic from my ZEN~ ones but am always open to better options
Mine were ones I had gotten from TW.
yea I missed out on all of 'em last year thx to work, and VC2 was a cluster-f*&^% full of problems for me (yet again thx to work ) and still 'almost' made it thx to my unfortunate medical reasons... I am DEFINITELY not missing out on VB this spring...

IF you have any smoktech dual coiled carto's, you'd have 2 per and still need to cut em down to length...
