SDawg,

beautiful work.

Still hoping someone tells me the secret to filling a tank without the stuff shooting out of the wick.

I have not even come close to mastering this thing. Totally not working right. just trying to be patient and figure out how I can get the bottom coils to glow at the same time as the rest.

btw,
I love picturing bumpi running around frantically looking for a bearded man. :)

Ob....if the wick is wet at all....it will never light up at the exact same time. Don't really worry about that part...that's getting in to over thinking it. :) If only one spot (and I do mean one spot...not a complete wrap) is glowing, and the rest isn't.....THEN you have to figure out what is wrong.

Trust me you guys and gals...this isn't a lightbulb that will glow *instantly* from one end to the other (unless the wick is removed). If the whole coil is glowing...you are good...even if it takes a second. :)

so the coils are really only checked properly and truly when the wick is totally dry?

what about when a whole wrap (say in my case the bottom one most of the time) is not glowing or glowing late that is fine? I thought that was considered a short too.

No...that's not a short. A short would be only one section glowing with a wet wick...and 90% of the time it will be the top coil closest to the post or the bottom coil closest to the post....but that is from my experience.

A coil NOT glowing is more likely to be that the wick is just more saturated in that area than the rest of the coils. Usually when trying to dry burn a wet wick...the top will glow first and work it's way down.

you dont want to anyways....its pyrex. remember what the master said about pyrex and SS? shattered tanks left and right, with any temperature changes.... there's a reason why no one has successfully been able to fix that problem...

the mad/evil scientist strikes again, must have missed the memo

So today I noticed my wick had settled a bit funny. I played with it a bit and f'd up my coil. I do what the sane Zenfidel does, look into my bag of tricks for my Allen keys. I don't see 'em.

Queue Chris freaking the F out!

I realize that I have my P+ and some traditional atties and attempt to vape on that. It was so not nice. Like almost horrible now that I've been using my Mini for awhile. I call home to see if anyone will bring me my keys. They're all drunk already; while I'm sitting in my office trying to make a deadline and suffering through a Zendrawal. No go and I can't leave.

I decide to rumage through the server room for a computer toolset. I find one and it's got three hex keys that aren't lost. Guess what? two of them were the PERFECT fit for my Mini. I wrapped a new coil in record time and was back to enjoying a vape instead of suffering through one.

I love my Mini! :D LOL

Okay, I'm thinking the coil is fine... no metal taste. I just have to figure out how to get it wicking properly. If I hold it slightly tilted up when dragging, it's nice. Held regular, not so much! Definitely gotta figure out the wicking issue now that I've ruled out the coil. And man, when it hits good, it is soooo good! Gotta get it working properly all the time!

Did you try to stick a straightened paper clip down the middle? How long did you pulse fire it while upside down? Those two things really got me going.

Oh and how many wraps are you running?

I had to hold it up like that for about a tank and a half, now its starting to pull the liquid up on its own and its wicking alot faster when i tilt it.. How much have yo vaped through it so far?

4 coils... it's Zen's setup. Haven't messed with it yet. Can you put a paperclip through it while it's wrapped? I've pulse fired and burned juice off a ton.

Question for the Mini owners:

How many batteries do you go through a day? How many coil wraps are you running?

I'm running 5 wraps.

I've been working for 12 hours today and that means some serious chain vaping. I just read battery #2 at 3.8v. Not too shabby.

At 4 wraps I'd normally be into my 3rd battery by now.
