Tagging: Zenesis battery venting safety post

If by some odd chance an IMR battery vents in a Zenesis PV:

1: NO FLAMES IMMEDIATELY WILL EXIT THE MOUTHPIECE... There is a Nylon Ferrule on the center post inside the PB... then further up there is a Threaded Ballistic Nylon Slug blocking the center hole, and above that there is a Threaded Stainless Steel Post. Even if flames made it past the first ferrule, they would not get past the ballistic nylon slug and stainless post.

2: Because of the heat involved in this reaction, you would DROP the PV as it heats up... any venting would be through the side of the switch at the very bottom. And letting go of it stops the flow of electricity... it would continue to vent, however once it has started... but you will still have your face.

And that is assuming you can get an AW IMR battery to vent...

With the rash of these other PVs exploding, I can honestly say a person would have to be stupid to use LiIon batteries in a PV, protected or not.

But then again, people would have to be stupid to smoke too... and I think we've all been there.

Well, I'm not overly happy about it, but as some of you recall about a month ago they indicated they were running early, and that's when they gave me tomorrow as the date for receiving the order. Even if it ships by Wednesday they will be ahead of their original proposed date.

The other thing that impresses me is that they called ME instead of waiting for me to ask what the heck was up.

There's a CoOp going at the moment that has had so many problems due to QA issues it's running months behind, I feel pretty bad for the organizer because he was flat-out victimized by his machine shop, and nothing threaded together.

I would MUCH rather have the shop make sure everything is right BEFORE SHIPPING THAN TO RUSH THEM AND RISK HAVING A NIGHTMARE IN ASSEMBLY.

Anyway, I'm as bummed as could be... but I have confidence that everything will ship next week.

yeppers...I saw the video about that Co-op...SD's :p

Zen,
in another thread, there is another battery discussion going on. He (or she I guess) argues that these are actually better batteries.

AW Protected 18650 3100 mAh

thoughts?

What's their reasoning behind thinking those are better than AW IMR batteries? Better as in, longer run-time? Are they safer? Is the chemocal makeup better? Why are they better? Personally, I want the safest battery on the market sitting in front of my face when I vape.

these, even though they are aw brand, are still LiIon.....I would just rather not take my chances with it. The chemistry is different and can explode....an imr cell WILL NOT EXPLODE.....

exactly.... I have some AW LiIon 2200mah's that were sent with my GLV XL....and I dont use em. there's a reason why most of the better mod companies out there recommend the IMR's... I have and use the AW IMR's... I have plenty 18650's and 18490's on hand, 18350's on the way..
