Zen did that with mine when he was setting it up this afternoon for me. In person. He did that for me. In person. LOL. It was really cool to get a device and pointers from the man who makes The APV. In person.

Okay, who has tips for me? I have the coil glowing beautifully, and I've cut the tip of the wick off to below the post. When I tilt it to make sure the wick is saturated with juice, it hits beautifully for about 2 hits. Then dry hits. It just doesn't want to wick. I pulled the wick up slightly from the bottom and have tried thinning out my juice and then switching juices completely. (how do you clean out old juice from the tank btw?) - my Zini just doesn't want to wick. Is there anything I can do that I haven't tried? I've been through almost 3 tanks of juice. Oh, I also tried pushing a paperclip through the hole in the coil to open it up a little. If I can get it to wick, it will be perfect! As it is, when I get a good hit, it's the best I've ever had!
I got excited when I started to read this post, but then read further and realized that my wick is nowhere near the bottom. If anything it is up higher than it has to be.
I do feel like the juice is getting heated inside the tank somehow, but do not know how.
Well, I haven't read back to "setting the wick on fire", but I do remember you saying that is Zens wick.
How I do my wick...(takes less than 5 minutes)
Heat with a torch until glowing hot, dip in water....repeat 2 more times..
Repeat on other end so that the whole wick is oxidized...
Soak wick with VG (or what you have) light on fire and let it burn out...
Here's the part you have to pay attention to and use your best judgement...this is a pre seasoning step.
Repeat this until you can see the liquid soaking in quickly....usually about 3-5 times.
Repeat this on the other end looking for the same results.
Insert your wick in the tank (use syringe or paperclip down through the wick for support while wrapping the coil), wrap your coil...try to space the coils about a mm apart or so, snug...but not tight on the wick. Put a drop or two on the coil...test fire.
I have 100% success with this process (I use VG to preseason the wick).

Ob...how many wraps do you have right now? And when you are taking a drag...are you tilting the mod so the juice is sitting towards the top? (hope that makes sense)
Reason I am asking is this....
Think of it like backwash...if the liquid runs up the wick (if you are tilting it like taking a drink...the draw will also pull more liquid in the wick) and your coil isn't warm enough to burn off what is there...it will flow back in to the tank. It will change colors because it is burning...but not evaporating..and therefor will change the color of the liquid in your tank.![]()
you made a interesting point in this post. how does one put the coils 1mm apart when you do four or even five? I would have to severly angle up the bottom one and then angle up the top to connect to the posts.
yes that makes sense, sort of. so you mean I should not be tilting it up and down as much without taking adequate pulls in between?
Remove a wrap? That would make 3--anyone else running 3 wraps? Maybe my batts are getting old.
