I think Zen said the wicks expand a bit from the time he ships them till they are ready to use by the end consumer. You just roll them between your fingers and make them thinner. I think it was in one of the videos? Or am I going crazy?
yu r not going crazy, 72 hrs w/5 flavors and still going strong.

Or get really crazy and make supre coils. Take a length of kanthal and twist it together so it looks like piece of yarn and wrap a coil with that. You want to go hot blazes, this will give a really strong coil that will be well under 1 ohm at 4 wraps.

Your batteries WILL HATE YOU (and we all know what happens if you get your batteries too mad at you) and I can't think of how to keep up enough juice flow for that amount of heat, but you will get one heck of a hot coil. ;)
now were making explosives!? hmmm.........now i need 2 zenesis lol

ok. here is the next lesson the seasoned vets need to help us newbies with.

getting a new mesh into the device. I had to take mine out (zen do not bash me, it was super clogged and I could not get the paperclip through :))

It took me about a hour to push it through. It is pretty snug in there. It is in, but wow it was super difficult.

any advice? maybe it is too wide to begin with?
Any of mine that I thought were too fat, I just unroll them trim whatever off to leave about 3/16 to a 1/4 inch and the reroll around the blunt needle that came with my standard, season a bit.. You will still have to do zens trick of twisting it a bit tighter on one end to get it started, but you can unroll them and roll back up with no problem...

I did that for about a hour. No going. I think I might have to snip them down a bit.

I was rolling it with all the strength I had. Maybe that was the problem :)

Here's a quick trick to rolling them smaller.

Take a couple of plastic cutting boards. Lay one down on a counter or table or some other steady surface.

Place the wick on top of that cutting board taking note of the direction the wick is roled in.

Put the other cutting board on top of the mesh so you essentially have a wick sandwich ;).

Put light pressure on the cutting board and push it in the direction that the wick is rolled.

Repeat until the wick is the right size.

Keep in mind you just want enough pressure to roll the wick down, you don't want to crush it :).

Might not be a bad idea to get all the tips and tricks I've poster in one place, but they could go into the FAQ thread too :)

there is a "tips and tricks" thread in there already :)

My main issue is that I need a paperclip sized piece of metal that is perfectly straight in order to then do this.

they make extra long needles in various size and if needed the plastic could be broke or cut off

You guy's are over thinking this stuff making it harder than it needs to be. No paperclip needed I roll my SS wicks without anything it is really easy...

+1
I used to measure my mesh with a micrometer gotta be 25mm.
I even have a 1mm ss rod I used to roll my wicks on.
It's alot easier to just cut a piece, roll it. Stick it in the hole.
