My first 24 hours with the Zenesis Standard
So far it's working very well. The flavor is funky but seems to be getting slightly better. It's funky enough that I'm using both my MonkeyBoxx VV and the Zenesis. No matter how much I saturate the atty, the funky flavor keeps coming back...it's good right after dripping but returns to funkiness after 5-6 draws. After a few hits I find my self picking up the box for a few good, clean hits and I let the Zenesis sit at an angle to resaturate the wick. Of course, I have not read this whole thread but I don't hear much about funky flavor syndrome. Once this
tank runs out, I'll switch to a different
ejuice to see how that tastes. I'm really hoping the Zenesis settles into a "normal" kind of flavor production.
I stopped at the hardware store today after work. I was hitting the Zenesis and realized the switch was coming loose. Yep, sure enough, the switch screw had worked itself loose over the corse of the day. I stopped at the hardware store to grab some Locktite for that screw and set the Zenesis into my truck console. After 5-10 I returned to that dreaded funky, burning atomizer smell. CRAP! Apparently the loose switch combined with the way I put into my console had caused it to keep firing the WHOLE TIME I was in the store. I felt the cap and it was extremely HOT.
When I got home, I took off the switch and BING...the magnet and washer assembly came out and it all stuck together. OK, I thought WTF, I have no clue how this originally was put together. After a few minutes of fighting the RE magnet and washers (they are a btch), I finally got the correct configuration (I think, hey, it works). I put a VERY TINY drop of Locktite on the screw and put it all back together.
Next, I examined the wick/coil assembly....fearing the worst after a nearly 10 minute dry burn. HOLY SNIKIES! It was all fine and fired just like nothing had ever happened! I dripped the wick, took a hit, COOL.....it's all good! All
coils glow and it tasted fine. That would have KILLED a commercial atty DEAD. At minimum, this would have produced several rank hits as the atty settled back in.
This atty is TOUGH as nails!!!
So far, my only real compaint is the feed system and I use about 85% PG juice. It just doesn't seem to feed enough juice into the atty. I'm used to a very thick, rich hit from my other PV's that allow me to control the feed manually with a bottle squeeze. Today I gave serious thought to changing over to a polypropylene tank so I can force-feed the atty. And, before anyone suggests anything, I am vaping this coil down, either parallel to the ground or at a slight angle past horizontal. I'm acutally used to that technique with my Phidias.
One thing I think Zen should include is an operators manual of some sort. While it's not an over-complex device, an exploded view would be quite handy for us noobs. Also, while obvious to some, something as elementary as the battery direction should be indicated somewhere. Just a little instruction sheet would certainly be nice.
