The old ones tend to wander as they feel their time waning. I would suggest contacting local veterinarians to find the owner. Shelters are typically death sentences, unless it is a no-kill shelter. I have actually had this happen to me. As I was walking my own pooch one night, I came across a well groomed hound roaming in a parking lot. I took him in for the night and in the morning walked him up to the closest vet office where they recognized him, and immediately called the owner who showed up 5 minutes later. His name was Champ. Cool dog.

i notice zen it's a lot nicer in here when you just pop in rather than scheduled, keeps all the idiots away that are just trying to demand things of you. i wish they all could be more like us core zenfidels(just having fun!), but you can't change the general mentality of the interwebz generation......
