So there's a dilemma...

The Sidewinder update kits are ready to ship and I was going to put them on the site tonight.

Then I got a text message from a vaper that I trust a whole lot that informed me that in the chats some jerks were conspiring to get together and claim the parts... even though they don't actually have the PVs... there was mention of selling them in the classifieds before I could get them to the right people.

Is this what we have become? A community of vapers that has become so hated by others that outsiders intentionally steal parts that are being made available to help people get their devices running correctly? This is outrageous.

Unfortunately, I cannot afford to have that happen. I know the real names of most people in this thread so I can be certain that SOME of the parts will get where they belong, but I sold quite a few to complete strangers and I want them to have a good experience as well.

I need suggestions from you folks that frequent this thread on how to best administer these parts so we can get them to the people that need them, without shipping expensive machined parts to idiots that are just out to hurt me.

Any ideas? I'm at a loss.

Mike, the possibility of this happening really makes me sad. But here is a thought. Have them send you an email with their full name, address, and ECF username. Also have them attach a picture of them showing their face and holding the Sidewinder that they bought. This would help in a couple of ways. If they were a thief, I doubt they would want you to know what they looked like and their real name and address, not to mention their ECF user name. Just my thoughts.

Ninja's pipe-dream perfect Zen: "modern" design... spring switch, larger wick hole, brass electrical contacts, any other generic design enhancements the modern devices have been receiving. Titanium or aluminum for weight. "standard" size to accommodate an 18650 or (ideally) an 18490+kick. Mini tank for reduced size/weight, and because kicked-18490 won't last through a standard tank anyway. Threaded cap for pocket protection (who uses the adjustable throat hit anyway? Hole directly over the wick EVERY time for more vapor! )

Be extra careful with one in a sport coat pocket. They all still have a fill hole that can leak juice and the same goes for the mesh wick. Just giving you a heads up here.

Be extra careful with one in a sport coat pocket. They all still have a fill hole that can leak juice and the same goes for the mesh wick. Just giving you a heads up here.

I appreciate the heads up. I actually asked someone to test how bad it was with a thick/solid wick in a Cobalt... yup, still a major problem . The good news is because of the V shape of an inner coat pocket it actually does a good job of keeping the device mostly upright, so long as the device is long enough not to be able to turn sideways (and light enough not to pull and ruin the fit of the coat!)

The bad news is any leak would end up being horrifically expensive.

Honestly, I don't see how to avoid the issue. I know a couple of vendors claim to have a mostly leak-proof genesis, but they accomplish that by plugging the fill hole which negatively impacts wicking.

Sounds like your best best for an out and about suit friendly APV is a Heresy. It's a superior automatic that will be available in two different models, one using an 18350 and one using an 18650. You could use a tank or a carto. Not a perfect solution as it's not a genny, but one which will fit your criteria........

just put word out on the classified, "if you are a cash purchaser of a sidewinder, please PM me a photo of your photo ID and sidewinder together."

I was standing at a vendor table, with Zen in hand, (device, not Mike) looking at various things they had on offer.
I know the guy had to have seen what I was holding.
And yet, he started spouting off to the guy next to him how he couldn't sell a thing.
There was no way he could compete with the crowd at Zen's table, and what was so special about a Zen anyway, and a few other not so nice comments.
....from a guy selling juice and drip tips. I honestly can't recall if he had any devices or not.
(just looked them up, mostly egos and such)
Pretty stupid thing to do in my opinion, especially since it's a vendor I have purchased tips from online.

I mean, even with a Zen of any type, a gal still needs juice and drip tips right?
Well, I just looked him in the eye, took a hit off my Zen and walked away.
He got exactly 0 of my drip tip cash.

And honestly, I would have done the same regardless of the vendor he was bashing.
You just don't do that in front of potential customers, you don't know who is standing in front of you and can clearly hear what you're saying. What IS wrong with people?
And, regardless of if I like his tips or not, he won't get my future business either.

I'd like to ask for some help from the crowd. I've been fairly religious about following the thread, and have my eye on both a Cobalt and a SW when they turn up at electronicstix.

For my purposes... I _think_ the SW is a better bet. I like the kick. They're both 18350 (which makes me nervous, but... it is what it is.) I like the 'pocket safe' cap.

The only thing that bothers me is that I remember seeing a couple of posts that said the SW was actually fairly heavy, even though a lot of the parts are anodized aluminum.

Request:

Can a male SW owner throw on a sport coat, put the (fully loaded.. tank, battery) SW in the inner coat pocket, button it, and take a picture? I want to see if it shows, or if the weight makes the coat pull...

Also... Could any of you mini owners give me an idea how long the 18350 lasts (without a kick)? I'm roughly a 6 mL / day vaper. Is one battery going to get me through a 8-10 hour work day? Carry a spare in my laptop bag for long days or travel days? Will I be ok, or will I need a battery case and a lot of spares? An 18650 lasts me 12-16 hours. Math on the battery mah would imply 4-5 hours from an 18350, but I know it doesn't always work like that.

If the SW is heavy enough to be a problem, I'll be going with a Cobalt. If not, I _think_ I'll enjoy the SW more.

you wont be disapointed with the SW, its heavy but very solid, very tiny, and fits perfect in your hand. Its unlike any mod I've ever held before and i will be getting one as soon as they are up.

YES, haha, i have nodded off a few times to wake up and notice my pv fell out of my hand and there is a puddle of juice in one of the folds on my shirt i think it leaked out through the air hole. but you can actually tilt it completely upside down, and as long as you dont hold it that way for too long, no noticeable amount of juice will come out.

afaik, on MOST of those models, you are supposed to take the plug out before vaping it. a buddy of mine has the AC9, which comes with a red plug, and they tell you that it WILL melt if you try to vape with that thing in there on that note I have seen/checked out most atties/hybrids, and the zens are the only ones that i LOVED, theres a pbusardo video somewhere, where mike explains the top cap design and how it affects air-vapor flow/expansion, and why theyre better than other gennies. from the moment i heard that interview, I knew i had to have one

the heresy is such a cool idea, when have you seen an auto PV? the one I looked at at vc was just a prototype but IMO it had the zen quality/finish, the finished product should be perfect for on the go, the only thing is that you cant use it with a z-atty because of the vacuum switch. i cant wait to see what mike does with/adds to the finished product.

If you want to be absolutely sure the ones in the wild get the fix. They get sent to you for the fix. If you feel you have inconvenienced the customer offer them a perk of some sort. Free UPS pick up of the APV?
