I was a pack a day smoker for a few years. I could not LIVE without my cigarettes. I tried patches and cold turkey. I would get to 1-2 weeks and cave every time. 25 days in, and therefore past the 3 week mark, I have no interest in cigarettes. Last night I found a half a cigarette and wondered if what people said was true about how awful they taste and that once a true vapor there was no going back. One inhale and I went
and it was just horrible. I could feel the smoke in my lungs, the taste was like licking an ashtray, it was a terrible experience.
When I first started. I was insanely thirsty all the time. Which is odd for me. I just don't feel thirsty usually. I would always have a ton of trouble becoming dehydrated from not drinking enough water all the time. So vaping actually fixed that problem. It dries out my mouth really quickly and even while I'm vaping I'm taking mouthfuls of water.
Another side effect was loss of interest in eating tons of food. There was simple satisfaction in the very sweet flavors I chose that made desserts uninteresting to me. The nicotine filled, tasty, sweet flavors were like eating dessert but not, so no extra and unnecessary calories going into my body. On top of that my disinterest in food unless I was actually hungry helped me lose weight. I hate keeping track of my pounds so I don't know how much but I hope this trend continues. I have diabetes in my family and being overweight and attracted to sweet things is a very bad combination. So hopefully this will help me towards that goal.
I noticed the insomnia hitting me around week 1 and 2 which was a misery all its own. I found a vitamin supplement called Melatonin, which is what your body already produces to make you feel sleepy, and found it helped me get right to sleep without that drugged and miserable tired feeling in the morning. In fact I felt more energized.
My lung capacity is going back to normal, and because of that I feel REALLY energized and I like to move around more now. It's been great. I bounce about and I'm not winded as easily either.
My sense of taste and smell have come back, which makes life hard when a cat uses the litterbox. Just ick. However it makes food and vaping taste better.
I still notice an increase in mucus in my nose, which happens when I try to quit or smoked too much. It isn't pleasant. All nearly dry and sticky. I know it's just my body trying to get out more gross phlegm but I feel like I've gotten more than my share already.
Oh and at first and for the first two weeks I had horrible body aches. I'm not sure why. I know it's a symptom. Maybe that's why sleeping was so hard. I found my natural anxiety and panic disorders getting worse. Hopefully that will go away eventually. Maybe it's because I literally put down the analogue and picked up the ecig with no weening in between. Maybe that was my "grumpy" or my feeling of stress that is completely normal with quitting analogues. Who knows. It's all speculation at this point.
All I have to say is I love my vapes!!!
