There used to be a really cool tutorial forum called madvapemods.com which had step-by-step instructions to make all kinds of different mods. It was great!! I learned a bunch on that forum!!
Unfortunately, it was attacked one too many times by spammers and hackers. First the pictures in the tutorials disappeared, then tons of "off-topic" posts began appearing from places like the Middle East, etc. When they started getting spam attacked with pictures of bare naked ladies (real ones, not the band), I stopped visiting there, not wanting to be associated with such rubbish. Guess I was on my moral hi-horse

It was, I think, all a major security problem.
I just went their site and it is under re-construction .. that's really wonderful. I hope they can get back to their original focus: providing info and tutorials for DIY modders. Once back up, they will be a great resource for beginners and experienced modders alike.
Newbies on ECF gripe because they are restricted from access to some things and the inability to perform certain things on the forum until they have a little experience. Well, I agree wholeheartly with the restrictions. You open it up too much to unknown members and pretty soon there's spam everywhere!!
