Totally unplanned. I had been thinking about quitting for some time, but never got serious about it. I'm a contract programmer/database developer, and one day an acquaintance that I had worked with a year earlier, bribed me with lunch if I'd come over and help her out with a database problem. After lunch, I wanted a smoke and asked if she was still smoking... just as she was exhaling something in the dining room. She said, "that's what this is... sort of." I was intrigued. We went outside so I could smoke, and she asked me to give it a try... man I hacked like it was my first analog - it was harsh! I did, obviously, get the TH and the taste was fine. She told me about the basics and when I got home I started researching it (that's when I found ECF BTW).

I went to a local B&M and picked up an ego starter kit. I was talking to some random guy in line about juices and he said a Mountain Dew/Strawberry combo were good. When I was up, I asked the mixologist what tobacco flavor most resembled Marlboro, and he said, "couldn't tell ya, ever since I quit smoking and started vaping I haven't had tobacco flavor - why would I when I can have blueberry or coffee, etc." So I ordered some tobacco flavored juices and had them make a Mountain Dew/Cantaloupe combo - wanting to be original.

The next day, when my last pack was gone, I setup my kit and filled one of the little cartridges with a tobacco flavor, and another one with the MD/Canteloupe, tried them both and really enjoyed the MD much better. And that is how I started, and where I'm at 3 months later. I do enjoy the non-tobacco flavors more with one exception... a good RY4.

Mine was not planned either, especially after trying a Blu type ecig in the beginning. Then I tried an ego and got the hit, thats when I did away with analogs.

I was picking up a new foster dog in the car and it was a long journey (I always smoked a lot whilst driving) and as soon as the dog got a whiff of the smoke he threw up through the dog guard and down the back of my neck! Poor thing had just spent 12 hours plus on a ferry and I went and polluted the first whiff of clean air he'd had for hours. May sound a stupid reason, but the reality hit hard and being covered in greyhound puke sort of got the message across.

Still exploring the best set-up for me, using the Riva 510 currently and am a bit overwhelmed with flavours of e-juice. Liking the menthol based ones (hated menthol analogs though), Honey Tabac and am waiting for some Black Cat to arrive - have heard lots of positive comments about it.

Happy vaping :)

Started with Blu....loved the concept but hated the product. Switched to green smoke and love it for a while. Until I found ECF and opened up the whole world of vaping. From that day on I knew I needed a APV to satisfy my craving. So I splurged on a provari and opened up to a new world of rebuilding things and making my own juice to make it a full fledged hobby and even more exciting for me. I can go on and on but if it wasent for these fourms I can guarantee those cig a likes would have failed me again and is be back to analogs without a doubt.

The first time I had ever heard of e-cigarettes was a few years ago on an episode of The History Channel's Modern Marvels but I had no idea if the concept had taken off. Well a few months ago I took my dog to the park and there was another guy there walking his dog and he was puffing away on some weird contraption. I got talking to him and asked him about it and he explained to me what it was and how it works, oh he was using an ego-c. That evening when I got home I researched the whole e-cigarette thing online and decided to give it a try. I had never tried or thought about quitting smoking as I really enjoyed it but I ordered an ego-c. A few weeks later it arrived and I took my first puff. I was shocked at how good it was and that day I finished off however many cigarettes were left in my pack and never smoked again. It's been about 3 months now and I have absolutely no urge to smoke an analog. I have also in this time bought a Provari Mini and upgraded my ego-c to a twist. I'm still trying lots of flavors and haven't settled on anyone in particular but I really like The Vapor Station's VS4.

For me it's been a different journey so far. A couple of years ago, I made the mistake of picking up a cheap-o ecig from my local 7-11, and to say that it tasted of stale cigs and never satisfied my craving would be an understatement. While I had that e-cig, i never stopped the stinkies because the e-cig I had was useless to me. Fast forward a couple of years to about a month ago and I finally told my wife that I have been smoking (our first child is on the way) and told her that I wanted to quit them, but didn't want to go back to using Chantix again. (While it does a great job to get you to quit, it just messes far too much with your head and I hated the feeling it gave me) I told her that I'd like to go and switch over to an e-cig and a couple of days later I ordered an eGo style and a small bottle of juice. Wow, it made a huge difference as it did satisfy my urge and it didn't taste horrid either. After 1 week into using the eGo, I completely stopped the stinkies and haven't had a desire to have another since. This satisfies me in ways that an analog never could. So far, 3 of my friends are in the process of picking up their APV's after they sampled mine and were shocked at how good it was.

Now, even smelling a stinky makes me sick to think of just how nasty of a smell they made and how I must have smelled. I'm only 3 weeks in and have picked up a couple of different juices and 1 has been absolutely amazing, the other is kind of Meh. The Meh flavor is a "Red Bull" clone and it's ok, but I can tell that whomever made it didn't put too much into it. It says "Star Royal" as the brand and I have no clue who actually makes it as I found it at a local smoke shop when I ran out of juice and couldn't get to where I wanted to buy from and try out their juices. Then, I went to DFW Vapor and bought a 30Ml bottle of Brawndo.... Wow! This has to be the nectar of gods as it has great TH, flavor and really satisfies me. I know that I'll be heading back there over and over again for more supplies and juices.

It's a new journey in my life and not having a craving for an analog or a desire to ever pick one up again.

I got a Green Smoke kit on a whim. I thought e-cigs were a gimmick and had no intention to quit smoking. I can't clearly recall my exact motivation, but it likely had something to do with being bored and wanting to play with "smoke." I got Green Smoke because some review site gave it high marks.

The kit arrived, but I didn't open it for a couple of days. Then one night I was out of cigarettes and it was raining and I thought maybe this e-cig thingy would hold me over until the next day. I took a drag, stared at it, lit the one cigarette I had left and played "puff one then the other". That was the last cigarette I ever smoked. I wasn't blown away by the taste, but fascinated by the vapor (which I now know wasn't great). Green Smoke really screwed up though. I ordered menthol, but they sent me a tobacco flavor by mistake. If I had received menthol, I probably would still be using them. The tobacco flavor they sent wasn't that bad and I seemed to detect a sort of coconut flavor at the finish. That got me thinking - I wonder if there is a coconut flavor? Google...Google Ha ha ha ha ha! Bye-bye Green Smoke, hello eGo!

My favorite flavor is Cold Fusion from ECBlend.

Smoked both at the same time to compare the two. I expect most of us do that at some point.

I smoked analogs for 18 years, went to my yearly physical and told my doctor I wanted to quit, but I just loved smoking too much. he suggested switching to an ecig. went out and bought a blu starter pack later that day, but gave up on it because it just wasn't doing the job. Then, about 2 months ago a ecig shop opened up here, and I bought an ego twist knock off with a handful of clearomizers and lived happily ever after. As far as juice goes, I usually have 3 on rotation throughout the day. Backwoods Brew-Applewood, Mt. Baker-solar Flare, Mt. Baker-Banana Cream Pie

Started vaping a couple of weeks ago to keep myself from going back to analogs. Loving it so much! Wish I had found this ages ago. Haven't had a chance to try out many retailers yet, just Halo and a couple of disposables but as of right now Halo's Tribeca is owning me! The idea of tasting an analog now is about as tempting as smoking a piece of ... well you get the idea! :vapor:
