How do you protect your mech mod

So what do you use to protect your mechanical mod? Is there something one can use on the buttons so as not to wear down design work.

At home, I have a ferocious attack rat terrier that protects me and my mods.

When out and about, I have a twenty plus year old American Derringer 45/410 to protect me and my mod. My mod does sometimes get protected in a leather holster from Serenity. the derringer is a pocket carry sans holster.

I lubricate/clean my button with small blast from a can of WD40 or Remington gun oil. But there are electrical greases available for this purpose. Lots of Aluminum mod owners use Noalox. Sorry don't have a brand name for use with Brass, stainless and copper. But you will find it in the electrical section of you big box hardware. When out and about I carry the mod in a belt-clip flashlight holster or in a pocket.
