When I changed from analogues to vaping, I found it very easy to do, it was enjoyable with no pain, side effects or craving whatsoever, one day I was smoking analogues the next I was happily vaping and I haven't smoked or wanted to smoke an analogue since.

I thought that this would have been most peoples experience till I joined this forum and read of the problems some people have had adjusting to vaping.

Was I one of the lucky few? or is this most peoples experience?

What was your experience when changing from analogues to vaping?

If this question has been asked before, or this post is in the wrong section, I apologise in advance. :)

I consider my transition to be pretty painless. I started vaping on a Saturday afternoon and by the following Thursday I was completely off of the stinkies. I haven't looked back. Now my wife is a completely different story. She has been vaping the same amount of time as I have (about 2 months) and she still can't get off the analogs. She went from being a PAD smoker to about 5 analogs a day but just can't seem to get over that hump. I think most of her issue is that she hasn't been able to find that one eliquid that just "does" it for her. I was fortunate enough to find several that I liked right out of the gate.

Mine was a very gradual change-over... well, not that gradual, I was analog-free in two weeks... but it was incremental in that I stopped analogs in stages. First I realized that, all of a sudden, I hadn't had a smoke at work that day. Then I cut out that first one in the morning... then the ones in the evening after work... Pretty soon all I had left was the drive to work, and the drive from work. Those were the hardest to stop.
It felt as though I were doing it in stages. I wouldn't say it was necessarily hard, but it wasn't easy. One of the hardest parts for me was that when I started vaping I really kind of hated it. I couldn't figure it out, I choked and coughed, couldn't find juice that didn't taste like bum. Eventually I found my flavors, developed a technique that works for me, etc...

It was a trade-off... I gave up analogs at about the same rate I increased, and got accustomed to, vape. It was about two weeks. Everyone will have a different experience, though, and the important piece is to stick with it (vaping), even if, like me, you have a difficult time with it at first...

Pretty easy for me as well. Once I committed to ordering an Ego twist kit online, I impatiently searched for a local B&M to see if I could pick something up in the mean time. Smoked my last analog on the way to the store. Walked out with just an Ego twist, a ce4 clearo, and 1 bottle of juice. It lasted me the 4-5 days before my package came. Haven't looked back since.

I know it's different for everyone. I quit on a Sunday when I got the right equipment. I struggled a bit with withdrawals and had a strained neck from a stupid cig-a-like that I started on the previous Friday. I had panic attacks, lost all sense of taste, and my skin broke out a little. BUT I haven't touched an analog at all. The thought of smoking makes me ill. Now, at 5 1/2 weeks out, the panic attacks are almost gone and my taste is coming back. I have better equipment and found some good juice. I've lost 13 pounds, my skin has cleared up and I look and feel fabulous. I'm proud of my accomplishment and it spurs me on to do bigger and better things.

For the noobs - ride it out - you can do it. Don't look back - look forward (to vapemail) and ALWAYS read ECF. I learn something new every day!

I switched pretty quickly but it was not as easy as I wanted it to be at the time. I thought I would just stop smoking and use the vaporizer. Ha. My first mistake was using a cigalike. The second was the nicotine amount just wasn't high enough (18 mg) but I had no way of knowing that when I started. I picked the highest level that was available in that brand but still craved cigarettes. Luckily my husband worked with a guy who was using the ego-c style so hublet bought an ego-c battery and the refillable tank things. He also found out that we could buy 24 mg liquid which finally helped cut a few more cigarettes out of my day. I think that when he found Halo was when I completely put the cigarettes down. I had a lot of trouble finding a liquid that I liked. I still had a few cig cravings when out drinking with friends, but Torque 56 (combined with the fact that the cigarettes just tasted nasty!) finally put a stop to that.

It was about one month from purchasing that first Mistic kit until I smoked my last full cigarette.

I'm a weird case...quit easily 24 hours after starting vaping, one day I was smoking, then next day I just...wasn't. Blew my mind.

Maintained with little to no cravings for several weeks, then started having niggling cravings that eventually just wouldn't go away--no matter the chain vaping at 24mg and resulting jitters/insomnia.

I have been smoking 1-2 smokes a day (certainly not enjoying them like I used to) for the last 2-3 weeks and am working on getting rid of those eventually.

The easiest quit I've had but it wasn't without desires.
I had half a cigarette in the mornings for a couple days. I just felt like complete crap without it. I vaped constantly.
After those 2 days I switched to 18mg in the morning for a few drags. I'd say I had no desire for a cigarette at all in under a week.

The first night without a cigarette was by accident. I was trying a new to me liquid type (PG free) out of my old ecig (RN4072) and wasn't planning on quitting until I got my eGo-Cs.

Easy, never really needed the cigarette, i needed the habit

Same here. Also I don't think I am addicted to the nicotine but to the sweet flavor of the juice. Though the nicotine to help take the edge off I guess, so maybe I am addicted. Either way no stinkies for me. 20 year ex smoke and I quit the day I picked up a PV.

Using a Joye 510 cig-a-like, I was unable to make the switch, though I tried for almost 2 years (starting in 2009). Yet, in 2011 when I upgraded my hardware to Ego batts and CE2s, and raised the nic from 18mg to 24mg, I completely made the switch within 24 hours. The 'cravings' were pretty bad for about three months, so I ordered WTA eliquid from Vapelicious(.com) and Aromaejuice(.com). That did the trick, and after a few months, I no longer required WTA eliquids...I was finally FREE!

Making the switch was a long struggle for me, but today it is 100% complete, and I couldn't be happier! My regular vape is 6mg, but can easily go to 0mg for several days. Lack of nic in my eliquid does bring on depression, so I'm satisfied to have a bit of nic on a regular basis (also like my high-octane coffee ;)).

I'm grateful for ecigs, ECF, and my collection of PVs! :D

I consider the change to have been ridiculously easy. The day I got my first decent ecig in the mail was the last day I lit up. I wasn't even planning to completely quit; hell, I didn't even want to. It just...happened. Still hard to wrap my brain around.

I think you have got it there when you said your "first decent ecig" :)

I was lucky when I bought my first ecig as I had a friend who had been vaping for quite a while and he steered me away from those cigalikes that I was looking at, so I avoided the cigalikes and bought an ego kit instead along with some wickless CE5s.

So I think it is important to start of with a decent ecig, I think my choice of kit helped to make the change easier.

Originally, quitting came instantly, and by accident. I had received my V2 starter kit on a Thursday, with the intention of quitting analogs after the weekend. Friday night the lady and I were having a few drinks and I ran out of smokes. Boom....decided to quit right then. Made it a little over 2 months without having so much as a drag. Then a fairly stressful April made me turn to the analogs for stress relief (no amount of vaping would have helped me through that period) and still trying to quit again. I am not up to my old PAD habit, but I do have upwards of 10 a day at most. It is getting easier and easier to just vape and hoping to do that exclusively soon. Stinky fingers crossed.
