Over the past 7½ years, I calculate that vaping has saved me approximately $25,000. On the average, I was spending $360 a month for smokes. Now, maybe $60 a month for nic juice. Not to mention it has saved me countless complaints from my wife about smoking in the car and house, lol. That extra $300 a month comes in handy during my retirement too. Heck, that's a decent used car payment.

12 years ago, when I first started annual visits to the doctor, I admitted I was a long time 2 pad smoker. He promptly added COPD to my chart, without ever actually testing me for COPD. This last visit, after 7 years of vaping, he said "Your lungs are clear. I don't understand why somebody put COPD in your records." LOL, it was you Doc.

A little about myself, I'm in my mid 30s and have physical and mental limitations.

I have asthma since the age of 19 and rarely need my inhaler anymore.

I needed to switch to vaping for a medication that cannot be taken with traditional cigarettes.

I had tried quitting with gum, mints and patches but that never worked for me.

I have schizo affective disorder and my doctor straight up told me cigarettes were improving and balancing my mood. My psych told me e cigarettes would add a good 20 years to my life.

And a specialist I see said the e cigarette would reduce my chance of stroke to almost 0 versus cigarettes.

So two of my doctors suggested I stay on nicotine for mental health. And two suggested the e cigarette to add years to my life and reduce my chance of stroke.

I can breathe, big full breaths. Plus I might need another back surgery and for the healing part of that it's recommended you do not smoke because it is major surgery.

So all in all I had many, many benefits of quitting cigarettes and in a way vaping has saved me some health related risk.

Unlike a lot of others here I started smoking 4 years ago when I was injured and became disabled. I smoked from stress and boredom. I was “only” smoking 4-5 long cigarettes a day but addicted nonetheless.

Vaping is much more relaxing to me both physically and emotionally. Especially since I can sit back and enjoy vaping in my house which I wouldn’t do with smoking. Gross.

Less concrete is the comraderie I’ve found with other vapors & ex smokers. It’s also becoming an enjoyable hobby since I’m going to be DIYing my own e juice. I’m just waiting for all the supplies to get here.

So all in all vaping has been great.
