A lot of my coworkers are pretty skeptical and critical of my vape gear. While some have been supportive and interested, others have just told me how bad it is for me.

I try explaining I'm not inhaling the hundreds of cancer causing chemicals in tobacco cigarettes. They ask, "Are you sure?" or have some story like, "Joe was using one of those and got sores all over his mouth, they're worse for you than cigarettes!"

I feel like I've explained myself until I'm blue in the face and it just doesn't get thru. If they're not telling me it's bad for me, they're telling me how ridiculous it looks and accusing me of smoking something illegal.

I don't want to hide it from everyone but I'm really tired of getting the third degree from everyone.

My response is typically...if my options are either inahling something I KNOW contains over 4,000 deadly chemicals, vs something that we might not have a lot of data on but is most likely not very harmful at all...I'm going with option B. And then I take a vape and walk away. :)

I'm so stealing this response!!! Perfect!!!

I've yet to have someone continue the argument after I say that. Especially people who know I tried to quit smoking through other methods and failed. At that point, I usually get a quiet little "yeah...i guess thats true" type of response, and conversation is over.

And even if they do keep Blabbing about whatever, you can throw in that vape costs about 1/4 of what smoking does.

That Usualy Shuts them Up.

When I used to smoke cigarettes, people who came to preach to me about the evils of smoking, I would look at them with a smile and very politely (and condescendingly) would answer "Thank you for your concern" followed by another smile. That shut them up.

Don't mean to bring down the mood, but I had a personal story for those situations:

A very close of mind was a pack a day smoker, and he passed away at 26 years old (at this point I would usually get that "i told you so" look). Thing is, he was killed by a train in Thailand, not by smoking. Then I'd give em the old 'you only live once' spiel. Man that ruined a lot of people's day I'm sure, but they usually left me alone after that ;)

Just tell them it's a weight loss device. They will support you whole-heartedly even if you don't need to lose weight. Do you have any idea the dangerous fad diets people use to try to lose weight? And even when their friends and loved ones know that it can't be good to only eat or drink cabbage juice and vinegar for ten days straight, they still don't give them grief because they are trying to "get healthier". Just tell them that instead of eating chocolate cake, you inhale fat-free, zero calorie chocolate cake vapor instead and they will be lining up to take a turn with your PV.

That's absolutely brilliant! Consider your method stolen. I'm talking it over with my lawyer to work out intellectual property rights as I write this... ;-)

I rarely explain the logistics of vaping to the general public. Like someone else mentioned, I just smile and nod. People will believe what they want regardless of any factual information you give them. How bout u keep smoking your cigarettes and I'll keep vaping. No need to try and explain anything to people that consider this a novelty in the first place. Lost cause with today's age. It is what it is.

Gee, I was called brilliant in this thread and a genius in another one, all in the same day! Be careful or this might go to my head and that would not be pretty.

Maybe we should start a new signature banner---"calories saved by inhaling tasty treats instead of eating them." It would make those of us who have nothing to show in our "money saved" column because we always have to have the latest vaping toy feel much better. :p
