Why is it that Every Time I see something I Always ask myself...

"How could I do that Faster with a Cordless Drill?"

LOL

Hmmm.... there's a thought: Hook it up to a spindle and create a yard-long coil. Then, cut off the number of wraps needed when you want to change the coil. Take less than 30 secs :D

Pretty cool & I've always wanted a Taig or something similar. But keep in mind that person is not winding those spirngs under power, he's turning the spindle by hand. No way I would try it under power. :) He's only using the lathe for leverage because of the thickness of the wire.

I'm lucky enough to be receiving this darkzero coil jig for making micro coils. He made it. It looks like anything the boy makes - well thought, bulletproof and highly functional. The stuff he dreams up is ridiculous :) can't wait to try it. I'll post some pix when I get it. Deazy is a beast :)

Wow, seen some of his work - great. Please post a new thread for the pictures - am afraid might miss it in the older threads!!

This is probably a stupid question but how do you pull the wick through the coil. Even though I tie the end with thread my wick is too frayed to go through a prewound coil.

Are you using cotton for your wick? I ask b/c from what I've seen most of the micro-coil builds are putting cotton through it.

Perhaps.

But why couldn't you run the Lathe at Low RPM and then Feed the Wire thru a Guide on the Tool Rest while Chasing a Thread?

Seems like if your Lathe can cut threads, then it would be Easy to Dial Up a Thread Pitch which Matches the Coil you want to make?
