Learning how to microcoil is a lot easier then it seems. The hardest part is pinching the coils together without messing it up. If you can learn how to do it well initially, with some good momentum, it makes it a heck of a bit easier. Pair of tweezers is a huge plus over pliers (smaller and easier to handle). An Ohm reader is a huge plus, unless you're rocking a 'rari.
What I did initially was write down what gauge wire I used, the number of wraps, ohm reading and how I liked it. I was writing it down on a piece of paper but if you're more tech inclined you can make a document or something like that.
Learning more complicated builds, is a lot easier when you see someone do it, thats why other builders on here love riptrippers because the dude has a knack for teaching.
