How long did it take you to upgrade?

Started with Vivi Nova's and Ego T's in January, went to Vamo and Vivi Novas in March, now it is ProVari Mini and Kanger Pro tanks. I'm not sure about rebuilding atty's and all of the rba stuff. Still learning from the good people on the forums. Every time I log in to the forum I pick up some new ideas. This habit could get expensive, but at the end of the day, it's worth it. No analogs for over four months now and I feel great!

I started with some Walmart brand. I wasn't even a regular smoker but I would definitely smoke when I drink. Not long after that I upgraded to a 510, now I have a couple ego twist batteries and Kanger EVOD clearomizers. That's all I need to be happy for a long time I believe. The 1000mah battery is more than enough charge to get me through the day. My 900mah passthrough is sweet when in front of a laptop. It's always charged! :)

I started aug 16, 2011 with a brand called Fuma that I got at a local drug store. About a week later, after finding ECF, I placed an order for a go-go. I stuck with the go-go (ended up with 4-5 batteries all together) until my 6 month anniversary. To reward myself for 6 months with no cigs I bought a provari. Somewhere in there I tried a vmod-XL, but I didn't like it, so sold it. Recently my provari is having button issues, so I ordered a vamo to use while the provari gets fixed.

Started with an ego and cartomizers back in July, as I bought more flavors I bought more cartos and drip tips to keep them straight. After about 2 months moved to a twist and stardusts. Then I discovered T3s, then MT3s and eventually eVods. Eventually stepped up to a varitube and vamo while I was waiting on an eVic pre-order.

Not sure what a V2 is, but if they fit on a 510 battery, they will fit on the Spinner. The Spinners have 510 and eGo threading.

V2 isn't a particular device, it's an e-cig company, one that was just bought out by BT (Big tobacco), btw.

Topic: I was a slow 'learner' when I first got into vaping.

Blu: Like so many other people here, I started out with them, and they helped me quit, but ultimately, were completely unsatisfactory. Not only because of battery life, which was terrible beyond belief, but the life of their prefilled cartos was even worse, if such a thing was possible.

SmokeTip: They were better, especially when it came to saving money, but their prefilled cartos leaked e-liquid into my mouth constantly, which I grew real tired of real quick.

Vapor4Life: V4L was my next stop, and this is where I first began seeing a significant improvement in both hardware, and cartos, as far as quality, performance, taste, etc. I have no doubt that if the vaping world was dominated by 808 themed devices, I would have ended up ordering some of their eGo gear, but ultimately, I chose to switch to the 510 crowd, simply because of the staggering amount of variety offered in hardware. I did not stop ordering from them because I was unhappy, they are a great company, and sell terrific hardware and e-liquids.

eGo gear: SimplyVapes/Cuecig/SmokTek: These three are great vendors that I would recommend to anyone. I started out with an 1100mah, changeable coil clearomizer kit from SmokTek, and from there I've moved on to eGo Twists and a Vision Spinner that I'm expecting in the mail any day now. As far as juice delivery devices, I'm perfectly content with my CE4+CC clearomizers, Vivi Nova tanks, and I'm also waiting for a few duel-coil Innokin iClear16s too, along with my Spinner, which I'm sure I'll love as well.

Edit: I just got my Spinner and iClear16s in the mail 10 minutes ago, can't wait to try them! :rickroll:

As mentioned in my first post I bought the V2 standard kit 2 weeks ago and received it a week ago. I love it and vaping so far, especially trying new flavors! My question is...

What did you start with?

How long until you upgraded?

What did you upgrade to?

Started off a little over a month ago with two eGo C-Twists (1000mAh). I got to vaping so much on 'em they were only lasting about 5 hours. My Vamo arrived today. :D

I love getting vapemail!

I started awhile back with the v2 group. While they got me off cigs I needed more. I got especially frustrated with them pushing cartos only. Back then they had very few liquids available and kept promising more and better equip, which never materialized while I was there.. Their forum will not let you discuss any other alternatives out of respect for v2 so they say but actually keeps you very ignorant of what is really available in the ecig world. I had problems with that right off and found ECF thank heavens. It may be confusing here at first but you can learn so much.

Some of you guys really have a lot of equipment! Would it be wiser to just bypass the next step up and just get the top of the line stuff?

What is "top of the line" is, to my understanding, somewhat debatable. The end station for many seem to be mech mods (read: battery tube with no electronics) and rebuildables, in particular Genisis or Odysseus variants. For the Genisis variants, you have anything from ~$10 rather crappy clones, through the very decent Aga, to the high-end Zen atties and such. They are mainly intended to use with SS mesh (stainless steel) as wicks, but will work with anything. I don't own any high-end ones, but I do read those saying you can set up an Aga to perform as well as a Zen.

The other kind (Ody style) use a combination of resistance and non-resistance wire. These mainly use silica wicks. There are some $25ish ones that are supposedly "decent but not great and might leak". And there's the Terminator C's which are quite excellent, but comes at a higher price.

Then there's the easy way in; rebuildable drippers. Get an Igo-L, some kanthal and silica... check for shorts, and you're good to go. They work well with eGo batteries, and require the least effort and money to find out if you "enjoy" fiddling with your own wicks and coils... and if the vape is to your liking.

That being said, my current all-day setup is a Gus 18500 with an Igo-L, and a Smoktech Natural with an Aga T2. Gus for pocket, Natural for home. I've come to the depressing conclusion that I don't really need anything else. Oh, and I got a Vamo which I consider more of a multimeter than an e-cig due to its size.

This is my first day here and I've already learned a lot. I thought my V2 was the best out there till I started reading ECF. Now I don't even know where to begin!

You began with the V2, which was a very good start. For many, they're able to stay with those and be very happy. For others (like me), we started with something else (like the eGo style batteries) and move up from there.

I would not recommend V2 batteries to anyone who smokes more than a few cigs a day. I smoked 2+pad and i spent my first month charging batteries over and over. If you're a light smoker all is well they may keep you happy. One thing to look for right off is the mAh of the battery 100 mah equals about 1 hour of vape time. Most new vapors want something that looks like a cig but the batteries aren't good enough yet to last at that size.

I started with a little 510 automatic set that I bought at a local smoke shop. It was awesome, I quit smoking so easily, as if someone had waved a magic wand over me. Didn't take long to get sick of recharging those little batteries. After about 3 days of standing by the battery charger waiting for the things to recharge, I hit the internet and found ECF, and discovered the wonderful world of mods. I immediately ordered a pink BB from altsmoke and batteries and a charger, as well as stocked up on cartos and juice. I've "evolved" many times since then, changing this and that, trying new things. My current setup is usually a kanger protank on my provari or MVP while at home, and a kanger evod on a 400mah spinner for a stealth vape while at work.

It took me two days to realize that staying on disposables would be expensive. I then found the forum here and quickly placed an order for a tank style starter kit. I've been through 6 different brands of disposables and not terribly happy with them although a couple are ok. I like the idea of buying my own pick of juice instead of relying on a specific brand. I suspect that even by starting with straight tobacco flavor, I will want to try flavored juice, especially coffee flavor.

Some companies do sell high quality cigalikes, such as Vapor4Life, which I mentioned in a previous post. It all just depends on what YOU want out of an e-cig. If you want a battery that will last pretty much the entire day, you're going to have to go with a basic eGo setup or better. I'm lucky in the sense that my wife and I are not hurting for money, and to be honest, I bought my first eGo kit on a whim, just out of curiosity. From there, there was no turning back, as they say. :)
