OK, so if FDA or some other lame branch of the govt outlaws juice or juice through the mail or whatever... How long can I expect my storage of juice to last before it goes bad? a year?

18 months to two years. And were not sure if it 'goes bad'. PG and VG are humectants in 'normal use' and it may just lose that characteristic. Store in a dark, cool, and dry place.

PG, at least the fog machine grade stuff, keeps for a long time. I have some 5 years old that is in my workshop going from 90 degrees to freezing and it still works. I think the flavoring and the nic are the factors in shelf life. Not sure what that is, I estimate that I have 10 months worth based on the 30ml per month rule and I will start to cut with VG to extend that.

Some say not to even put in the the refrigator. What is the consenus on that, should you refrigate it or just put in a dark, cool and dry place. Which will last longer.

Consensus is not the best standard when dealiing with reality :)

Dow Chem. the largest suppliers of PG in the world and the one most likely to have a lot of the stuff hanging around longer than just about anyone says 'cool, dry, and dark' place for storage. Google it if you need more assurance. I got it off some pdf on the Dow site.

Yes you are right, their are many different ideas on this forum concerning this. Its just what is cool, it can take on many meanings. Well I guess I will just keep mine the way I have in a dark, dry place and cool place outside of the fridge. So far I haven't had any problems with change in flavor yet with some jc stocked over 6 months.

Sun's fridge info has helped me better understand the chemistry involved with storage. I believe we are getting to the true answer for long term storage. Fridge or freezer seems to be not recommended. Cool, dark, dry seems to be best. Flavors will hydrolyze to nasty products, and the cold will enhance water absorption, and thus hydrolysis reactions.

A sealable box (tackle box) with a desiccant, like the drying packs in vitamins, in a cool place, looks to be the best way to store all juices.

So it looks like flavored juices will go bad first, and unopened unflavored juices may last several years if stored properly.

See the thread for chemistry details. I am more than open to further information or criticisms. We all want our liquids to last as long as possible, and we are all learning here, especially me! :D

I guess we should get into specifics...................how about store it not hot, not sunny and not humid and remove as much air as possible.

pg, nicotine and flavorings are not stored in the fridge and carry no expiration date when seperate and sealed.

I agree. Its in the mix that the chemistry can happen.
