50 000 vapers in the US or in the whole world? Not everyone here is from the US. ;)
No, I realize that. But I think the majority here are USA-based? So, I still think there are at least 50k in the USA even - then double that to include the rest of the world. So there are at least 100k PV owners worldwide.(Maybe not including China?? LOL!)

I doubt it has hit a million yet, though.

The number you seek is 47......... have a good day

Actually, I think it's 42 - but who's counting.

For the other conversation - I guess I am technically Jamaican Schots-Irish German America, but when I say that folks get confused, because it is right after I say I was born in Durham, North Carolina. Such is life. I guess I will keep answering All of the Above on the census papers...:p

i heard somewhere there are over 180,000 PV users....
50,000 is a small number in relation to america's 120millon or so.
and the PV business is in the mulitmillions .... 50,000 might not be able to support the volume of sellers we have now...

my .02 cents.... for what its worth with the friggin inflation rates !!!!

Don't know how the hell I found this thread, sorry to resurrect it but I read every post and here's the deal with AA's (African Americans aka people like me) and smoking. We are a community based culture. "If no one in you circle of friends smoke then you won't smoke." Most of us who do end up smoking it's for one of two reasons, either we are finding a replacement to weed, or our friends did it. (the second is the main reason anyone starts smoking, it's contagious.)

My fear is that marketing to AA's will make it look cool to be addicted to nicotine again, like they did in the 50's and 60's. This will increase the number of vapers but to the government it will be a strike against us. we will be creating a new breed of addiction. The best way to market to us is:

A) Market e-cigs the way they should be marketed, as safer ALTERNATIVE to analogs. Meaning if you already smoke, try this.

B) Not at all, we love to "find" things. (I know it sounds simple but I'll explain.) We like to have the newest and freshest products. If we haven't seen it, it's new to us.

DO NOT MARKET A "BLING BLING" E-CIG IN HARLEM!!! YOU SEE HOW THE RAN WITH CRACK! BEFORE THAT WAS MARKETED NO ONE HAD TRIED CRACK AND THE WORLD WAS A BETTER PLACE. LOL WATCH NEW JACK CITY, YOU DON'T WANT TO BE NINO BROWN

All up in your grill..
Well, at this point there are over 18,300 members of this forum. And we aren't the only forum for PVs. Figure that not all PV owners are going to join a forum, maybe 1/3 will. So, my guess is there are at least 50,000 vapers out there!
I think that estimate is not even close. I myself have sold about a thousand starter kits since january. I am just one guy at one mall. Alot of people still don't use the internet for shopping. You would be surprised how many older smokers there are that don't use the net. I think about 500 thousand e-cig users is a more realistic estimate. Remember you have people like smoke assassin hammering sirius. You have infomercials. The net and malls. Then the FDA's news blast backfired and drove thousands of curious consumer to malls and net sites across the country.

If we went only by my menthol smokes, my ability to dance to any beat, the 15" speaker that i had to remove my backseat to install when i was younger and the skin color of half my friends, never graduated high school, i wonder what people would assume i am? Ill give a hint...I cant jump, not even a foot high!

On the other hand, i have a friend that enjoys jazz and country music, eats sushi on the regular, smokes camel lights, drives a Jeep Wrangler and hates it when i play my music loud, and got her Masters from USC, I wonder what people would think she is without seeing her? Ill give you a hint, she played basketball in college...

Hmm...so a girl wanted to know if black people vaped. Maybe she was curious? maybe she wanted to know if there more people of her own race that shared this connection.

Either way, anyone should be able to ask a question without being attacked or assumed a hater just because she mentioned race. this was in No way a derogatory statement, nor offensive. Why the big deal?

I guess the reason race has never been a big deal to me, is well, because its not a deal to me. We are what we are, everyone should embrace our differences and be thankful we have them. without different shades of color, without different textures and cultures, without curiosity, without expression, we would have no reason to be here. THIS right here, these differences, is what makes life worth living. Explore the unknown, ask what you dont know, learn, coexist, empower yourself with the knowledge of difference without losing urself in the process, embrace ur own culture without criticising another, eliminate IGNORANCE and fear of the unknown. ITS OKAY to ask questions.....questions break barriers, for without the freedom to learn about one another, wed ALL be ignorant to the BEAUTY of another.

This thread hit home when I read it bc my BF in high school, Marcie, was killed by a drunk driver who jumped up in court yelling racial slurs at her family. It was horrifying, as if he didnt do enuff already. It really made me think, even 16 yrs later, how happy I was to grow up in a household that wasnt racist.

Marcie was always just Marcie, not "black Marcie", not "white Marcie", not "Indian Marcie".......she was Marcie. She was everything I needed in a best friend, and nothing else...

You dont work for the government do you ??.

The last Job application I filled in had so many choices for Colour and Gender I started to get confused which category I should tick.

My neighbors are black and he owns Mr. Smokes, a local smoke shop in my town outside of Houston, and he is the one who introduced me to e cigs. We live in a pretty tight net neighborhood and the homeowners association holds these little get-togethers from time to time and Jeff, my neighbor, has helped make the change for many of the smokers here. Which is kinda strange seeing as how he does not sell them but has referred all of us to this forum and told us to shop around and find the best deal.

The point is, I personaly know more blacks who vape than whites. Mostly because they are really Jeffs friends but I have only met a few whites face to face that vape. Anyway. I told Jeff about this thread and he just laughed. He says if anyone is ever in Conroe, TX come by the shop and see for yourself. ;)

I really don't know how to tell you this, but um, I think this has more to do with being poor and "urban" than "people like you"...and even in THAT case, no. No.

Substitute for weed? I grew up in East Oakland...when has this ever been a rare commodity in the 'hood, lol? I'm just...sayin'...

My fear is that marketing to AA's will make it look cool to be addicted to nicotine again, like they did in the 50's and 60's. Um...no offense but people are individuals. Perhaps you should not use phrases like "a strike against us" in a racial context; again, I think you are doing a disservice to all of the CACWTRN(poor non-minority people of minimal sophistication) out there that have the same problem: poverty.

[/QUOTE]

You are gonna HATE this but you know it is "true"...you think marketing e-Cigs as an "intelligent alternative that smart people use" would be a better sell for an Urban Contemporary Youth Audience? ;)

Besides "Bling" is so played now, I mean "bling" is one the Today Show. It is NOT what is hot in the streets now :p
