Greater Orlando area here. I haven't seen anyone at all that vapes, other than my friends who vape (some who didn't even previously smoke!). But, other than that, not a single person.
When I first got my ProVari, I was a little weirded out to use it in public. It does look like some odd drug paraphernalia or something. I took a flight to visit a friend this past weekend and was kinda concerned about having it in my bag and going through TSA... I mean, it really does look like a detonator to people looking for that sort of thing. LOL. But I passed through without even a second glance so I guess it didn't raise any red flags.
However, I have gotten a lot more comfortable with it, and frequently use it in public. No one has any idea what the heck I'm doing, and get the universal "What the hell is that??". Maybe if I was using a run-of-the-mill Blu or something it would fly under the radar. But once I tell people about it, they seem genuinely interested. I do find that people have a hard time grasping the fact that I'm not "smoking". I think the fact that there is still a cloud, albeit odorless, is what throws people off.
Non-smokers also seem to have trouble understanding what the point is. When I tell them there is still nicotine in the liquid, I get puzzled looks followed by "Then how is it better than cigarettes?". Maybe it's a common misconception that nicotine is the death dealer in analogs, where in fact it's the tar and eleventy-billion chemicals.
Anyhow, even though I haven't come across another random vaper, I look forward to the day I do. And until then, I plan to educate one person at a time about e-cigs.
