jonmo, Col., I used to think that everyone in the government was an a**hole too but I've been paying much closer attention for the last ten years and there actually ARE some members of congress and a few senators that are there to serve the interest of the people. Actually more now than there was five years ago. It is possible for america to become a democracy again, but this is a pretty big ship to turn around. It'll take time but I see it starting to happen.

mist, I am glad the you are optimistic enough to make the statement that you have. But it is much more difficult for me to do so.

I have worked in Municipal government for 15 years and if I could tell you a fraction of the stories that have gone on behind the scenes, it would make you sick!

But why do they want to ban the e cigs in the first place? It's more than obvious that analog cigs are killing many many people each year and there is now finally something which helps smokers to finally quit. If they have still concerns about the safety etc. of the product, why don't they just take some money and test it? Thats something I don't understand..

You can't think of a reason? It starts with "M" and sounds like Honey
Who would stand to gain by banning Ecigs?
Shouldn't take long to figure out.

I'm tellin ya, tobacco is a HUGE HUGE HUGE Cash Crop.
Probably as big as (or bigger than) the Auto Industry.
If Ecigs catch on, less tobacco get's sold, less taxes earned on cigarettes. Fewer cases of cancer to treat (treat, not cure), les pharmacutical drugs purchased by the cigarette addicts (cancer victims).
The chain goes on and on...

Bing bang boom, there's your reason.

Because the government is not getting any money out of it! No taxes nothing! The analog companies are crying to their buddies in Washington that they are losing clients to ecigs and they want to make all they money and kill more people!

Of course it's money! Every elected official wakes up every day HAVING to think about how their gonna raise $30,000 dollars that day (on average) so that they can finance the next election. Kinda gets in the way of governing or legislating, don't ya think?
OK, kids, can you say "campaign finance reform"?
