I have been vaping for just 8 days, and I have not experienced a sore throat from the e-cig or the PG. I have been using Blu's low nicotine carts (11mg, I think) and refilling with Johnson Creek's Original Smoke Juice (Reduced PG; also 11mg). I have not stopped analogs, yet. I still smoke 2-5 of them per day, but not until the end of the day. All day long vaping = no sore throat. But after a couple of analogs, I get a scratchy throat and a feeling like I have to constantly clear my throat.

So I would say at this point that the vaping is not a problem. It's the smoking that burns.

Started vaping two weeks ago (quit analogs same day BTW) with mild sore throat - but in the last four or five days, I'v had a pretty severe sore throat... Hurts to swallow and very dry feeling (almost a cracked back of the throat feel).
Using only VG (Tobbaco "USA Mix" 26mg) - so I don't think it's a PG alergy problem. Throat hurt bad enough to not vape yesterday... Today (work day) I've got lozgeners and am vaping as little as possible.
Hope this all goes away - as I'm thrilled with every other aspect of the e-cig.

As a follow-up to my last post.... A couple of days ago I swtched over to Ecopure Rich 25mg - and am now drink A LOT more fluids. My throat is getting better - still a little dry and sore at times - but not near what I was experiencing last week.

I thought I really needed that "throat hit" to mimic analogs.... Turns out the Ecopure Rich provides very little throat hit, but the flavor is GREAT! Much rather have the flavor and tons of vapor.

I know this tread is about sore throat , but lately I can't use PG at all.. needed to change to VG due to wheezing. It started to make my chest feel tight also...
I had to cut all my juices half with VG..Whats up with that..! And I don't have a cold or anything, I felt better almost instantly...
Oh and I have never got a sore throat from any juices....

I have been chain vaping 36 mg (pg) for only 13 days. The first day and half my throat was slightly irritated, especially the morning after my first day of vaping. Now it just seems to be somewhat dry due to the PG.

Today is my second day completely off of cigarettes. Cravings = minor. Very happy so far. I smoked between 3-4.5 packs a day for approximately 25 years.

I believe everyone’s tolerance to PG and VG varies widely which is related to the degree of one’s sore throat.

im hoping i can post here as i am still a newbie. my experience thus far is as follows: been trying to vape for about 5 days now. still smoking 5-6 analogs per day, camel reg menthol. at first i was using, all with my 510, intellicig eco pure menthol 20mg pg and it was way to harsh on my throat. then i switched to eco pure menthol 20mg pg and diluted it with VG , still a harsh hit, so i gave up on menthol :(

now after ordering some more flavors and e liq in vg, not realizing that some flavors are from loran, uh oh, im stuck with hubbys 28mg kamel/diluted with VG to make it more like 14mg, still too harsh, yuck. all of this is convincing me that a camel menthol is way better tasting than an ecig, and so far analogs are winning. im convinced that pg is not for me, but the ultimate conclusion will come when my order comes in and everything is VG. if i take a hit and vape and i get that same sore throat i don't know what im going to do................i was really hoping to take to this ecig thing. i was even thinking about enjoying lower nic levels to almost 0mg as long as i had flavor and no throat hit at all. people are right on here when they say that ciggies have some sort of chemical to mask the throat irritation and make that analog ciggie go down so smooth! i wish i knew what it was, just for knowing, im curious. makes me really think about this whole tobacco/nic thing: they've had us for a number of years, convincing us it was cool, socially acceptable, etc., making them taste decent, etc, just had to deal with the after smell and what not. something that i was readily willing to do for so long because i loved that menthol. now i'm wondering..................what's really going on...........?

oooh i get to edit now!

anyways, i forgot to mention i was a 1/2 to 1 pack a day menthols for 20 years.

Try a mod. The closest thing I have found to actually smoking, and I have tried a lot of different models and mods, is the Chuck. I now have 3 and 3 more on order. I love them. Mods are a little bigger than the standard e-cig, but oh the difference the size makes. I finally gave up the 2 or 3 cigs I had been sneaking every week after I got my first. Thagbuilt.com. They take about 2 weeks, each one is made to order and can be personalized. Thy are heavy, I would recommend starting out w/a Lil' Chuck, it hits hard and the batteries will last most of the day 8 hrs and I am a heavy vapor. Hope this helps, it sure did me!!

I smoked 1-1 1/2 packs a day for 24 yrs Marb 100's

Littlesara -
How long have you been vapping? The reason I ask is because it will take some time for your body to adjust to vapping.

I've been vapping about a month now and until a few days ago my mouth got really, really sore and very dry as did my lips. I wound up sucking on hard cinnamon candy while vapping and it helped with the sore mouth. Then I put a ton of chapstick on my lips and no more sore, dry mouth or lips. Really wierd but it worked.

I also started vapping straight through instead of vapping into the mouth and then inhaling. That's when I got a sore throat. A few days of sucking on cough drops and now everything is fine.

The sore throat or mouth could be because of the glycerin whether it's PG or VG. Glycerin has a tendency to be drying.

Also, if you remember when you first started smoking, your throat was pretty raw until your body got used to it.

Try the hard candy, chapstick, cough drops it might help.

Have had a sore throat the last 24-36 hours. Tried to keep up on the fluids and per TB suggestions, gargle and drink a good amount of water before bed each night. Today, I still have a sore throat and some mucus.

For those that have experienced a sore throat due to an e-cigarette, how bad was it, and how long did it last?

Thanks
I had a severe sore throat that wouldn't go away. Drank lots of fluids (lived in bathroom), cough drops etc; nothing worked. I went to a doctor and found out I had a severe reaction to PG. I mix my own ejuice with VG only and no more sore throats

PG is a known irritant and some people just can't tolerate it.

VG can irritate so, when I mix my own ejuice I usually add a few drops of EverClear, high-proof vodka, brandy etc to it. VG can irritate but adding distilled water, grain alcohol etc makes actually soothing.
