My story is similar to a lot of other ppls... I was 12 when I smoked for the first time, 15 when I started smoking on a daily basis (lived with my overindulgent grandmother who bought me whatever I wanted), and now I'm 31
I started up full time in the Navy when I was 22. Smoked ML's for 18 years. Never going back. Wish I found vaping sooner.
19 years.... yikes that was a long time... glad i found vaping

20 years as a legal adult, but I used tobacco quite a bit before that.
I used to sneak smokes from my parents. I had older friends who also dipped snuff. For a while I was on a chewing tobacco kick.

40 yrs. I still cheat cause I just started using the ecig, but I do like them so I don't know why I cheat. Any suggestions?
Emonty,how could you have started 50 yrs when you are only 49. I am assuming you are meaning your mom smoked while she was smoking. If that's the case then I've smoked for more than 40 yrs, but I'm 57. Please correct my math, it's not one of my strong points.
Most say don't worry too much about it--think of it in terms of how many cigarettes you're avoiding. And I agree with that. I've vaped for close to 2.5 years and still treat myself to no more than four cigarettes a day every day. (I suspect more people on this board and out in the world are like me that way than this board might lead some to believe.) That's down from 20-30 for well over 40 years. As far as I'm concerned that accomplishes my goal, as I feel much better than I did. If you quit cigarettes altogether via the e-cig, great. If you help yourself out with a major cutdown, great too!

Started when I was 14, quit at 45. Way too long! The good news is at 52, my lungs are clear, and my body healed. If you're smoking, QUIT! Your body begins healing, and clearing immediately.
15 years started when i was 15 years old, im almost 31 years old. Im so thankful to ecig. my quit date was july 31st.. thats 10days and 100cig avioded. (I will say though today I almost gave in, not because I wanted one, but because I wanted my nic. and i couldnt find my charger to charge my battery, i was so close to going to the store and buying a pack, and right when i was going to through in the towel, i found my charger and vaped on my ecig.) lesson learned, must buy a spear charger just in case i lose one. same with batteries,ect.

23 years, pretty much a pack a day average. Never quit for more than a couple days, and every time it was a nightmare for me. Adopted vaping in '08, but the tech couldn't keep up with my need and my wallet couldn't keep up with the gear costs. Got into an eGo at a friend's suggestion, and have been on and off the analogs since, but miraculously have just stopped smoking in the past few weeks and been vaping my face off. I think I've finally taken to them, and plan to hit zero nic before Christmas, if not earlier.
8 years....i told myself, at 10 years i'd try and quit, i never in those 8 years went a day without smoking, until whatever my ivape banner below says

I started in the 8th grade, but only after 10 years I saw the light and switched to ecigs
I smoked for 32 years. I quit twice during that time, but never a day went by that I didn't want a cigarette. My first few vapes changed all of that, and I've never looked back. Done, done and DONE!
54 years and my lungs feel it.
don't know if they will get better,,i have not smoked since memorial day and my lung no longer crackle and wheez,but i am really really short winded.

Started on and off when I was about 16. then went full fledged when I was in my early 20's. So Over 20 yrs for me.
