I used to steal smokes from my mom and dad when I was maybe 11? ..I dont think I bought my 1st pack till I was 13 or 14 maybe..
I used to go to the firehouse around the corner from my house..they'd sell candy or soda and yes packs of smokes to a 13 yr old kid lol
I'll be 41 this month and thank god everyday I found out about vaping...maybe with some luck I'll get to see my kids grow up now..and some day get to meet my grandkids :)

First started at age 19, in college after a very bad final project review which was also my first (I went to architecture school) I hated smoking, and started in a deliberate masochistic desire to hurt myself (I figured it was a little less drastic than jumping off the nearest bridge). Never meant to be a smoker, I planned on stopping once I got a good review. Wrong. Became severely addicted, to the point that I couldn't sleep the night through without waking up to smoke - my addiction was so strong it woke me up. Got my first e-cig five days ago, and haven't had an analog since. Have tried to quit so many times, and I am in disbelief about how easy it is. I plan on reducing the nicotine level to zero gradually, and then stopping the vaping (if I feel like it, not pressuring myself).

Had smoked analogs for over 35 years when I quit last year. Was up to over 3 packs per day, but most of those laid in the ashtray and burned up. Friends gave me a hard time about never ever burning a cigarette down to the end, but oh well, the lighting and first drags was the main thing for me..

Can't remember the cost when I first started, but I can remember that I could go to the corner store and get a pack of cigs, a hot dog and a cold drink for $1 with tax included, so must have been cheap.

My uncle once told me when we were talking about the price hikes, "Well, I guess they are just now finding out what they're worth ! "

He passed away over 20 years ago having fought lung cancer for 17 years... on the last day, as he lay there dying, he was wanting a cigarette. Sad, but true.

Another anecdote... we used to joke around with some friends of ours that we needed to invent a way to still smoke once we were all on oxygen, and we all felt that day would come. Well, thanks to my ecig, maybe that day won't come, at least not for a long while.

Good vapin to you all !

I started when I was 12 yrs. old and probably smoked about a 1/2 dozen a day till I was around 18. I then smoked a pack , 25 cigs, a day for the next 30 years and and quit for 3 years due to health problems. I Started back at a pack a day till I got my first PV in January. I haven't had another analog since and don't miss them a bit. I find that 1 -2 carts a day at around 18 mg meets my addiction and allows me to get back to exercising and doing all the things I wanted , but couldn't , due to shortness of breath. For anyone who wonders if Vaping is the answer, I guess if this holds for at least a year I could be the poster boy for Vaping as a smoking cessation program, at the tender age of 56 years.
