I have spent around $350 so far on this new hobby. 510 kit and lots of supplies, built a couple of Nicostix boxes on the cheap and have about 6 months worth of juice. Will probably splurge on a commercial mod and then call it good for some time. But have given up analogs completely and the health benefits (not to mention costs savings) are more than worth it to me. I have tried quitting so many times over he last 35 years I would have paid anything to achieve the results I have experienced.

Great info from all the folks posting. I'm not .... enough to do a master spreadsheet to try and capture an actual average but I see a range from about $60 to $1600 with most falling in the range of about $200-300 for the first couple of months but with the attitude that folks are stocking up for the future. (Obviously the better informed folks who read this forum first had more choice in the matter and hence perhaps saved themselves from buying a crap starter kit--on the other hand they/we also have a feast of nearly infinite possibilities laid out before us and plenty of upside spending and obsessing we can do on that side of the spectrum)

The big shift for me is that its been many many years since i bought cigarettes by the carton since i found that the more I bought the more i smoked and that by waiting untul nearly the last cigarette i could keep it down to about 10-15 cigs a day.

Now i have to plan ahead. (It kinda reminds me of my teenage catholic friends attitude about sex. They didn't want to admit they planned to have it so they went unprepared.) Sort of have to be swept away by the passion (a.k.a the addiction) before i spend the $.

This doesn't work to well with ecigs since there is generally a 2-3 day minimum wait between impulse and fulfillment

I'm cleaning my crapped out atomizers at this very moment and awaiting some cartomizers (USPS says they are in my zip code so maybe 4 more hours) and toying with going out and grabbing a pack of analogs--as a back-up.

well its progress for sure. And while i am no where near breaking even, it is sort of funny to think of buying some Newports as the back up. (I used to buy a box of nicorettes when traveling as a back-up in case there were long stretches where i couldn't smoke.)

In the first month I spent $283.45. I've spent a total of $621.80 and have not used tobacco in any form since November 21, 2009. I've got a good stash and don't see much in the way of expenditures in the near future. I think that I've done alright.

Wow... reading this I see that many people have spent far more than me. I have only been at this for a week, so now I am wondering if I was being a bit premature in estimating how much I would be spending?

On the other hand, I did read around here and a few other places for a couple weeks before I finally purchased anything. When I first seriously considered looking at ecigs, I had hoped my local head shop would have them, but they didnt. I googled and the first thing that came up was the Smoke 51. The deal seemed excellent.... until I started reading reviews on the company. I saw a lot of crap with the free trials, but I wasnt looking at a free trial anyways, and I know how that gets tricky on the fine print with anything that is a freetrial.

But, I dont have a lot of extra money to spare, so I went looking for more information. I saw a lot of bad reviews on their equip.

After researching and now a week with the ecig, I feel pretty confident in the equip I chose. I feel confident in the suppliers I chose. The only thing I anticipate getting side tracked on is whether or not I like the flavors I ordered.

I have kept exact records of what I spent and what I would have spent on cigarettes.

So far I spent $2,035.83 on ecigs, juice, and supplies.

Would have spent on cigarettes = $2,280

And I have well over a year worth of supplies and juice; so theoretically I would not have to spend another cent for well over a year.

I've only been vaping since last Thursday, so about 5 days total. So far I've spent $70.25.

Based on my current vaping level this should last me at least a month. To compare, I was spending about $200 a month on analogs. That leaves me around $130 that I could spend this month and break even.

I still need to pick up a passthrough, some additional batteries and a supply of blank cartos. I'm sure I'll also end up trying a number of different juices. Once I find some favorites and settle into a routine, I figure I'll be saving a bunch of money over smoking analogs.

Only thing I'm waiting to purchase is my copper pipe, caps and maybe a few other items to start modding. Will get those when my batteries arrive to insure a good fit. May also try a few box mods too..not sure yet.

If I were still smoking Marlboro Ultra Light 100's my bill would be $400 per month, although prior to vaping I'd been doing the RYO so was costing about $100 per month. I'm fairly sure that once I've built a few mods, I should probably slow way down on expenses, as I'm a fairly habitual type guy and once I've found what I like I don't usually switch around too much. I'm hoping to get vaping down to being almost unconscious like cigarettes so I've got mental and physical focus for other things.

Just to close, like many others I've already seen massive changes in my health and energy. I should be completely off analogs in another 2 weeks or so. I'm counting down the number of analogs I smoke each day, but I already would rather vape than smoke. I'm also very happy to be sharing this gift with others as I'm able to and help spread the word. This is an awesome community and I'm glad to be part of it!

I've only been vaping for a week, and I've spent about $180. However, I feel like given my current supplies, I could easily go another month or more without having to restock:

-Janty Ego set, w/ two batteries, 5 carts, one atty and a charger
-140 ml of various juices
-5 extra attys

I am very happy that I went with the Ego for one reason; battery life. From lots of reviews, and the trials of a good friend who got a 510, you spend just as much on a 510 setup that will last all day (extra batteries, PPC's, etc...) as an Ego set. The brilliance of the 510 from my estimations are the vapor quality, which relates to the atty, which the Ego utilizes as well. Not to down the 510, since it is the standard, but I couldn't be happier with the performance of the Ego. And no, I'm not a Janty spokesman

I gotta agree with this. As per my earlier post, I haven't spent that much and I'm good for around a month. I want to get some spare supplies, but I don't envision spend very much at all on a monthly basis. I'm happy with my choice and the vaping experience I get from it, but I can understand wanting to try other models. I see this as a hobby that can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be.

I should have ordered more carts, but I moved pretty rapidly to direct dripping. So if I'd ordered 10 carts, up that by 6 bucks. Note that I only have 1 or 2 bottles of juice that are even near half gone, and the others I haven't really made a dent in, so I figure they'll last for a long while. I could have gotten away with like 2 bottles of juice.

This month, I'm looking to buy more carts (now that I've figured out how to clean the atties right, I may go back to using carts), a crimson red atomizer, and maybe a battery. So $26 on stuff, which is way less than I might have spent in a month on cigarettes.

Wow! Some of you guys are gonna scare people from even thinking of trying ecigs! I have spent a total of $80.00 for my 2 510's from Cignot, an extra bottle of juice from Madvapes and two bottles from Tasty Vapor which I just received. For those of you considering trying this, you really don't need to spend that much to get a wonderful ecig and enough juice to last quite a while...and I'm a heavy vaper! Yes, you need to buy spare parts periodically and of course more juice, but it is WAY cheaper than smoking analogs for me!

Ditto here, maybe a bit less. Have hardly spent a dime on vaping since Jan 1, other than getting a Bartleby for $50. Got lots of unflavored high-nic juice, make my own DIYs. Might get more attys at some point, but I am good for quite a while if I don't spend a thing...and that's a nice feeling.

But I'm with the previous poster, the benefits to the health and the sheer fun of it makes it priceless.

I don't know how much I spent the first month but I have been vaping 11 months and have spent close to $5000. I figured I have saved $300 by vaping. If I could quit buying and thinking I have to have every new thing that comes out I would save a lot by vaping.

After 9 months, I'm probably about 1/2 way there... but I'm stocked for a nuclear winter
